Planting a pineapple top?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Can somebody give me directions on how to plant a pineapple top. I bought one to try in the dehydrator and thought I'd see if I can get it to grow. Us Yankees don't know much about pineapples ~ Thanks!

Poppysue, real easy to do..When I wack off the top I let it sit for a week or so to dry some. Then if you peal back the lower leaves you can see the roots starting to show. Look real close now and you can most likely see them. Then I just stick the top part into the soil. Not to deep, just where the leaves meet the fruit part and it does the rest. Sooo easy. I neglect mine and they do great. Looks real nice in a clay pot. Lisa

OH! I just saw this somewhere . . . . whereowhere . . . oh! it's in my newest garden magazine but I forget which one. The directions were incredibly simple that I thought even I could do it. If someone doesn't come up with it before I'll try to remember to check tonight and post it for ya 'k?
