Feel free to upload your new blooms - Part II
Aaaaaaaah ....... I am languishing in all these Beautiful Blooms on this hot, humid, rainy Florida day!
Gail: Could your unknown Chirita be 'Stardust' or possibly 'Kazu'??
Drooling.....
Gail what do you mean you cut the center out? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=4008833
It is a beautiful day here to.....22 Celcius!

Without seeing the bloom I would guess Kazu for your Chirita Gail.Anxious to see which it is.By the looks of it,it should be really loaded when it blooms.Amazing plants you grow Gail..all of them! You really do well with trailers.Mine just seem to sit..lol...Can't wait til you start your baby factory with your Chimeras.I admit...I am a bit nervous about hacking mine up..LOL...Loving all your blooms!

Donna...............the best way to tell you what it means to cut the crown out for suckering........go to Rob's Violet Barn.............he has a section called Cultural tips or something like that................then look under chimeras....................and he will tell you how.............or better yet..........look under our very own stickys begoniacrazii made for us at the top of the AV forum.............and you will see a page on how to do this............we want both chimeras and trailers to sucker............
I have the funniest picture to show you all............I am separating babies also from their mama leaves........but here is one with a bud going to bloom.........since I didn't write her name on the solo cup......think i will let her bloom first and I will know her name!!!!!!!!!!!!
*****can you see that little white bud?????????
Brenda said something about leaves spooning when they are under stress.............Snow and I think my bottom two shelves on each stand perhaps get too cold.........for growing leaves..........they should be at the top instead of the bottom...........but not starting over anytime soon...............
**********thank you, Lin..........maybe Kazu afterall................we will know more when she blooms

Thanks for the explanation, Gail!
:) Donna
Good to know about "spooning" leaves! I moved most of my leaves, babies to the top shelf closest to the lights on one of my stands. I need to raise some on the second shelf of one stand because the light is too far from the shelf. I don't have lights on chains where you can raise and lower the them, so I have to sit the littlepots of leaves on boxes or something. I usually use those rectangular plastic containers upside down and sit the little pots on them ... raises them just a bit closer to the lights!
Hi Ladies!
Just popping in for a minute cause I have DG withdrawls! LOL.Love all your blooming beauties!
jannich..............look up a couple posts up and see that bud trying to bloom and i haven't even separated the babies from the mother!!!!!!!!!!!! That is so funny to me...........
I wanted to bring this thread back up as there are only 61 posts and I know we can do better than that *lol*
I LOVE threads like this where we can post pictures and create a photo album together.
OK, so it's not really a gessue but I am LOVING this little baby. These are some Iron Cross Oxalis (another one of the plants I enjoy growing) that I received in a trade which were dormant a week ago. It has been so much fun watching them poke their little pink stems out fo the soil and grow a little bit more every day I can't wait until she unfurls her little Iron cross leaves and blooms :).
What nice big windows for growing...................I don't have any of those because of our intense heat in the summer....................have to grow under lights................
We just got this new home a year ago (a double wide mobile) and one of the important things when we were picking out the floorplan was windows. I NEED alot of light during the winter as our winters are SO long and SO dark. I fall prey to Seasonal depression with not enough light so I LOVE all the windows.
Here is a shot of the livingroom:
Here is a shot of the "diningroom". It's really one HUGE kitchen and along the wall we have the "computer station". I try to share this area as best as I can *lol* Hubby is REALLY great with sharing this space with me. He is BIG TIME into computers but this is the only window along this side of the house and gets the "direct sun" so I NEED it for my Crown of Thorns and Adeniums :)
Love looking at all your pics of adenium (in the house at that!!!!!!!).........and also crown of thorns in the house...........didn't even know you could do that..........will do it myself this winter i think..............
Keyring, luv your kohleria silver feather. It looks so much like a episcia. That's another one for the wish list.
Gail gorgeous flowers!!
Kim your setup looks so organized. All healthy and huge!!
:) Donna
OMG, just realized that that wasn't the livingroom it was ANOTHER shot of my bedroom *lol*
Here is the REAL livingroom *lol*
Donna, Thank you SO MUCH. My plants have grown over the years but most of them have NEVER bloomed :( I get quite frustrated sometimes *lol* That's why I took such an interest in streps. HOPEFULLY they will bloom frquently as I LOVE flowers :) Foliage is nice....BUT....I NEED flowers *lol* If I'm going to grow it, it better flower....or else....to the trade forum it goes *lol*
Well .... I have both Plant Envy AND Window envy here! Lovely plants ladies! Sure wish I had more space and I want a GLASS HOUSE!! ..... well, I would have to have shades to draw at night, I wouldn't want to feel like I was living in a fish bowl. LOL.
I can't figure out what is going on with my new camera .... pictures seem to come out really dark. I need to get the book that came with it and study awhile!
Anyhow .... here's AV 'Spring Kiss', Semi Mini Purple Noid and AV 'Irish Kiss' still blooming:
VERY pretty Lin, I think the lighting on that one works fine :)
Do you have a flash on it?
My flash wasn't working ... hubby is checking out the camera for me as I type!
I know on my camera there is a button that looks like a lightening rod. If you hit it once, no flash, hit it again flash, hit it again flash with item brought forward, hit it again flash with item brought backward, hit it again...back to no flash. This might be what is happening to you. :)
Kim: Thank You! I think you are right! I have a button on the back of my camera where I usually rest my thumb ... it's the lightning bolt! I'm gonna play around with it for awhile.
Gotta run .... been playing in the dirt again most of the day. We are going to the University to watch the ladies volleyball game at 7 and I need to go shower and get ready!
Have a great evening everyone!
Lin
Hi, Kim. this is my first visit to this forum. See what your interest in streps did? Your pictures are beautiful.
Anyway, just popping in to say I bought some streps to propagate this winter too. I've been thinking about it in the back of my mind for a year or so.
I have one that blooms all the time. blooms are inportant in Michigan winters too. I don't have to grow it under lights either. I Just grow it in a South window like your sunny dining room window. Only it doesn't get sun in winter.
I'm planning to propogate my streps for Mothers day plants to pass out at church. Dipleys?? website makes it sound do-able from only a few leaves.
Maybe we can trade some baby plants in the Spring. I didn't mean to hijack this thread. Will be happy to post pictures when I get some.
Cindy
Cindy,
WELCOME! Quiet honestly, I have found this forum to be the nicest forum I have visited so far and I plan to stay here until they kick me out :)
I don't grow AV's BUT there are so many other plants in the gessie family that I CAN grow and the ladies here REALLY make you feel at home :) They have to be the NICEST group yet :)
I just stuck my first leaves last week. I also received my first plants. Here is where I made my first mistake. I took them out of the pot and transplanted them. Needless to say, they went into MAJOR shock. I almost died when I woke up and found all the leaves limp and wilted. I panicked and because of Gail's advice, this morning they are all perked right back up.
This tells me one thing, these plants seem to be VERY forgiving and they will notify you when there is something wrong and respond to the care given :)
I would LOVE to trade next spring. I'm HOPING to have lots of babies to share :) My favorite thing to do is trade :)
Today I'm going through my house and cutting every single plant I have in hopes of having at least 1 of everything to share/trade next spring :)
I am SO happy to see you here. Although I enjoy my hoyas, I have come to the conclusion that they are mostly a foliage plant for me. Some of them I've had for a few years and have never bloomed. Eventually they may all be replaced by gessies :) I LOVE plants that require attention or need babying and these seem to be the right fit for me :)
So tell us, what streps did you buy and which one do you grow?
Cindy, again welcome. Beware, they can be addicting *lol*
Kim
Someone else got up early this morning (LOL)..................I slept so much yesterday that I was wide awake at 4:30 this morning.................
Kim, I meant to tell you that Rain doesn't order pots.........she just uses all the different sizes of the solo pots (the tiny ones are good.......then they move up a size.....if that is too big cut the top around and off).........Unless you are growing hundreds of baby plants, they are expensive to order...........
Welcome, cflowr!!!!!!!!!!! We do have fun and love newcomers to the forum............glad to hear you have streps............they are just too much fun to propagate..........
