Oh good idea Joanne! .
Hope Jo has lots of guest rooms in that new house!
Fall Garden - Today in Calgary
Carolvan,
I will be @ the farm Wednesday to Monday this week. Bringing back some rock for Joanne. Do you want a couple? What color? Igneous-Sparkles or more sandstone? What size-ish? Darker to go with your slate?
Im looking for blues and rusty golds to match the rocks I have in the front yard.
Nothing real big - smaller rocks look nice in a pile I think.
Ok you all - if you are going past Edmonton to get to St Paul you HAVE to stop here too! It would be super to be the hostes up here and have a mini round up.
I too love rocks and would love petrified wood ones. Lynn and I went on a garden tour two years ago and a lady had the most unassuming front acreage and when you went around back it was transformed with Petrified tree stumps---they are amazing.
Joanne I know how heavy they can be so I will keep you in mind if I am lucky enough to get up to you some time.
Enjoy your rock hunting folks.
Ann
Ann,
I've only found 1 little rock that looked like it was petrified wood. I'll keep an eye out for them & if we find some I will let you know. What are your favorite Garden Centres in Edmonton? I spend a lot of time in Edmonton & always bring back plants back to Calgary. The plant selection seems to be wider & better than what is offered @ the Garden Centres in Calgary.
Joanne
You have enough there to make a little Inuktuk.
Joanne
Hi
I like which ever one I'm driving into!!
LOL
I like to go to Salsbury ( I seem to not have the spelling correct) I also like BMR which is a small family owned place on 50th ST south of Beaumont and north of Leduc. I like going to Holes for ideas but just about die with the prices.
I tend to hit Costco for fill in stuff like Lobiela or fibrous begonia's.
I like to go to Apache Seeds for seeds and corms. I seem to shop at Lynn's house quite offten too. (this is an inside joke)
As you can see I tend to get around and can get into tons of trouble.
Here is a view of the side/front of my yard from August.
Give me a heads up next time you come through, I'd be happy to have you stop for tea or coffee.
Ann
What a beautiful garden. I'm in Edmonton pretty much every week. Next week Tuesday & Wednesday.
I love Ellersie Garden & Gift. They had all their large 2.2 kg Smatecote slow release fertilizer on for $5 each, so I bought a whole whack of them. They where reg $35.
When to Millcreek Nursery on 17th & 30 Ave, gorgeous place. Check out Greenland on a regular basis. for the last few years I usually buy a number of plants from the Little Greenhouse on the Prairie which sets up on 111 & 120th Street.
I too take advantage of the Costco plants. You can't beat the prices.
Joanne
Thanks for the kind words.
Yep those are good ones too.
I heard Ellerslie has perenials at 50 off at the moment. I will have to stop there!
I got my little Angle Hydranga at Millcreek and my mini nesting spruce at Greenland I do tend to shop around.
I am off on Wednesday and can come and find you for coffee or you can come here. I will Dmail you.
Ann
Ann - love your garden!
