May be moving to Oregon

Everyones kitties are so beautiful! Murmur I love the pic of of your gray kittie smelling the air. It is so peaceful.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Ooooooh. Love all these kitties, attitude and all. It's what makes them special and what keeps us in line.

Murmur, your boy and my girl are hanging out together now, I'm sure. In that special place they have for those beautiful long-haired gray kitties.

I love all your kitty pics. kwanjin, your photos got all squished and I couldn't see the first one very well. I'm remembering my kitties (and doggies) at the bridge and miss them so. I just have one of each now. If my cat gets out at night I'm a wreck until I can get her back inside. She's probably my last and has so many personalities it's like having several cats, I wonder if she's channeling all her predecessors sometimes.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

kwanjin, I've never seen painted cats - very cool. Love Isis and Monty, how cute they are together.

What gorgeous cats - that Calico (Gemini?) is a real beauty - and Friday's fur is amazing, like you gave her a hot oil treatment! Murmur, that expression is priceless, ahh serenity now! Katie, 12 cats ! omg, do they all get along with eachother? Poor birdies!

(Zone 7a)

Kayte, some of these pics are from my cell and they don't get bigger. Sorry. I don't think I'll put more up.

RTP, here are more painted cats.

http://damncoolpics.blogspot.com/2007/02/painted-cats.html

Sorry for the cuss in the website.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

"Do they all get along" The boys do great together. With the girls, there's a lot of "phhhht" "reeeeeooowre" [she's looking at me]. For the most part they do pretty well. The shy kids (5 of them) from the rescue event all get along great. I converted my office into the cat room, but in the last few weeks all those cats have decided to hang in my bedroom. So . . . . empty cat room. Hmmmmm.

Last night, as I was on the floor petting a couple of shy kitties, I noticed that Dolce, my bedroom kitty, was hunched over something in the closet with too much interest. It was a dead mouse!!! Now how did he get into the house? Wrong house to pick, that's for sure. Poor mousie!! I'm worried now that his family is under the house.

Yes, poor birdie. I feel pretty bad about that. I went out and got another companion for his widow and now they own the other guest room while I figure out just exactly where I'm going to hang their cage.

More heart than brains sometimes. That's me!!

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

dont worry, cussing I can handle!

those are cool pictures, I'll show my kids when they get home from school, they will love it! thank you

Oh, for those who asked, no we did not order another pizza (we were poor ! ) I believe we made toast to go with our bud light. Ah, the good ol' days!

(Zone 7a)

I told my DH years ago that if he hadn't married me, I'd be that lady you see on the news with 200 cats. Rescue animals are the ONLY way to go. Good job, katie!!!

(Zone 7a)

That's still funny about the pizza. I shared it at work and got belly-laughs from everybody!!!

I have not been able to get to this thread for awhile, my Firefox kept crashing whenever I tried.
Now it's working again!

First: Painted Cats That is a hoax. See:

Second: Here is a picture of me with some of my crew

Essentialplanet... good job ferreting out the hoax. I usually check snopes and did not this time ! Thanks

(Zone 7a)

Oh, too cute!!

And I thought it was digitally done. (The painted cats.) Still fun to look at.

Isis took over the bed today and won't let Monty up. Hissy fights start when he tries.

Kwanjin - it certainly wasn't planned, but I am that lady. Eeeek!! I'm a bad foster mom - just can't turn anybody over to the "system" I adopted out to friends and friends of friends about half of the 20 kittens that we had. My sister-in-law and brother kept three and momma (who is really grandma) was spayed and hangs out in their garage. She even let me pet her the other day - a thrill.

Painted cats is a hoax. Hmmm. I never even thought about checking on that one - it looks like the evidence is right there. Are those digitally created pictures, then? I'll have to check it out. Welcome back, EP!! I can't imagine how frustrating that must have been for you - knowing that people are talking about stuff and missing it.

Love your crew. Wish mine could go outside again - just too afraid of the coyotes. They are so brazen. I hear them howling sometimes in the middle of the day.

(Zone 7a)

We're lucky we only have dogs and stray kids to worry about! Occassionally we get cougars around here but not as far down in the valley as we are. Raccoons, though...

Haven't seen the bobcats for years. Doesn't mean they're gone, though. Coyotes are scarier.

It's not exactly a hoax, as the books exist. It was done digitally. I remember seeing that "Why Paint Cats" book! Someone gave me their first "Why Cats Paint" book. I think I may still have it somewhere.

EP, nice crew you've got there! The orange and white one looks like he (she?) is standing guard for the rest.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

I dunno, I think Mountain lions are scarier. They can stalk people with a fairly realistic chance of taking us down if they attacked. I know people who used to hike in the hills around Boulder, CO and they would talk about seeing them- very scary!! AFAIK, coyotes don't generally attack people. They're cunning and super-adaptable, though-and bad news for our furry friends.

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I used to spot lots of coyotes when hiking. They would stop and stare directly into your eyes, then slowly walk away. They did not seem really afraid, and neither were they confrontational at all.
On the other hand, when a moutain lion is screaming outside your bedroom window all night it makes for very little sleep. It really upsets the dogs!

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

Hey EP - hi neighbor ! I'm in Tualatin - your cats are too cute outside

Fake painted CATS-!!! lol

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I guess I shouldn't complain too much. We don't have skunks, coyotes, bobcats or cougars close by (knock on wood). But the raccoons and the coyotes are enough. At least I don't have to worry about my safety.

(Zone 7a)

I worked at a local copper mine for a while giving hearing tests to the workers. On a snowy night-shift, I had trouble getting up the mountain. I got out and walked the quarter mile to my building. When I got inside and was shaking snow off, one of the supervisors asked, "Did you see the cougar?" I just about died right there!!

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

wow ! that is scary, cougars and mountain lions! I'm happy for the stinky skunks,

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Funny we were just talking about mountain lions..

http://www.9news.com/rss/article.aspx?storyid=78789

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

oh, I hope they aren't fined - it sounds like they tried everything they could to not hurt the animal. And It would be very difficult to watch a mountain lion shake your doggy around like that!

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Me too. Boy, that must have been scary....I'll bet that dog will be really wary of mountain lions for the rest of its life, too.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

this is totally off-subject, but I'm making homemade cinnamon rolls today - when my daughters get home from school they are going to freak out! (I only do this 1x per year, maybe)... My 4 year old son has been "helping me", he has alot of flour on his shirt. (his special batch is kept separate)

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh, I wouldn't mind being one of your little girls coming home to the smell of hot fresh cinnamon rolls! What fun-and yummy!!
Are you a with-raisin, or without-raisin person?

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

Very good question Susybell, lol - I'm doing two batches... One just the pure cinnamony sugar dough balls of goodness, the other with brown sugar, pecans and raisins for my nut&fruit loving dh ! If I'm going to the trouble of kneading bread dough, I may as well do both. I might have enough left over for a loaf of cinnamon bread (which I love as toast in the am)

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Red- I can almost smell them, yummy!

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Oooh, yes, I love cinnamon bread toast, too. Way back when I used to make cinnamon swirl bread from scratch fairly often ( loooong time ago) Last year I gave DH a mini-breadmaker for Christmas-it makes little 3/4lb loaves in about an hour. We've made more cinnamon than anything, but it's still not as good as truly from-scratch bread.

How diplomatic of you-making without-raisin AND with-raisin and with pecans! Lucky DH! I like "with" best, but without nuts...even though I like pecans. IF they're without, they've got to be soft, super-cinnamon-y and semi-gooey......so, where did you say you lived in Tualatin? Oh, wait, I'll just follow the cinnamon, ;)

Seriously, I've got to go mow the lawn while it's dry....I've been stalling. Maybe I'll do some baking for the weekend.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

mmmmmmmmmmm, it does smell like a big cinnamon roll in here - the kids enjoyed the rolls immensely, totally made it worth the time. I ate one of the super softy guys, delish and I am stuffed. I did have enough for a little loaf of cinnamon swirl bread, so I'll save that for toast - I know what you mean, the bread makers are good (the smell is great, too) but it just isn't as good as homemade..... we used to make cheesebread with ours, we don't have it anymore tho.

Hope you got that lawn mowed!

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

I can smell the cinnamon all the way to Scio!

Wilsonville, OR(Zone 8b)

Hi Redtootsie,

Nice to meet a neighbor here! Perhaps we'll meet one day!

(Zone 7a)

I hate it when I have to work and miss all the fun stuff!!! Cinnamon rolls? From scratch? Oh, I'm just dying not getting to eat those!!!

And that poor puppy-dog! We had a problem here about 3-4 four years ago with house-cats being killed and mutilated. Everybody thought it was a sicko but turns out, it was a fox.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

* I wish I could send everyone one, seriously I'm going to gain 5 lbs!... I better find an outside project next time.

Darn fox - well I'm glad it was a fox and not a sicko.

Foggy here - no school today

(Zone 7a)

I miss fog, too. Watching it roll off the ocean...(sigh) :-(

Hi RTP,

Nope, still need to do the lawn. I don't like mowing. I kind of got off on a little tangent -and found a salamander! I was tidying up a corner of the pot ghetto and started to pull up a weed that was growing around the end of a bin and there he was, hiding under the plant! Cute as can be. I was wearing gloves so I gently picked him up. He was probably all of 4 inches long nose to tail, dark green with spots and lighter green on the sides. I put him back and covered him back up with the weed. (lucky day for the weed....)

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Sounds darling! I have been finding lots of little tree frogs lately while I have been weeding. I always talk to them and apologize for disturbing them, they ignore me and hop away :0)

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

They sound cute, too! I'd love to see a tree frog-or any frog-in my yard.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

oh how cute, I'd love to see a salamander in the yard ! I'm glad I'm not the only one talking to her tree frogs - lol. Kwan, that is a great picture, is that somewhere you stayed ??

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Red,
We frog talkers are a rare breed!
