Can you tell me what it is colour is brown has a red spot towards tail end under side is light brown is this a friend or foe Trixe

It's a shield bug, they feed on plant juices and don't really cause any harm. I have the Forest Shield Bug around at them moment, they tend to come to an east wall when the weather turns. Thats, probably what it is.

Sure looks like the Forest Shield Bug (Pentatoma rufipes)

This one does suck plant juice but also preys on other insects....as wallaby1 says, should be no problem

I should have mentioned too that they usually live in trees or forests.
