I found this by my mailbox- no plants nearby. What is it? What does it eat? I found it last night so figure it will be hungry today. When it bends in a circle, you can see the pretty scarlet soft stretchy parts in between the furry segments. Like a lining in a cape.

It's possibly a Giant Leopard moth cat, a very pretty moth:

How cool, they must be in season. What are yours eating? I reads they eat broad leaved weeds. I fed all the other cats but asked hubby to feed this one. So he offered it a variety of lovely leaves to whet its' appetite- Brugmansia "Snowbank", Hibiscus, Dwarf Turk's Cap, and some Firespike that I'm constantly hacking back. With my luck it will decide it really likes Brugmansia LOL.
