CLOSED: Harvest swap!

Columbia Station, OH(Zone 5a)

Does anyone need all white single datura? I don't want to include any if no one needs them as all parts are poisonous and those with children or pets someyimes strongly object.. Respond here if you want any and I'll include them in my packets and put your name on them.
Happy Harvesting..

Hi Everyone,
I am getting excited about wrapping my seeds in fall theme....I saw a post for requests, and I myself am trying to start a fragrant garden, so any flowers that smell good day or night ( I love to wander the gardens at night with the kitties) would be appreciated here.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend...I have to work but its at a nursery, I just started and love love love it.....With hubby in NY till end of November, I don't mind working weekends...and I am learning alot. Maybe my dream of having a greenhouse for my tropicals and starting early plants off, might happen sooner than I thought if I could just save some money from this job and not give it back to the owners in buying plants... ; )

Everyone have a great time dressing their seeds...

I grew up just a few miles from where you live! In fact for years our adress was columbia station but then it changed to north ridgeville. Small world.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

gammy, I would love any and all datura. all mine got washed away in a flash flood. so now I have no flowers and no seeds from any of them. won't plant anything there next year. I had all the different colors, single, double and a couple of triple. maybe someone will be gnerous and send in a few of the other colors. please, please, please. the only thing that survived in that garden was my old fashioned poppy and it really out performed all the rest of the newer types. I wish I had taken a picture of it it was salmon colored, frilled all over and had a purple center. I got lots of seeds from it, if anyone is interested.

good thing I have lots of other plants to get seeds from. I did alot of winter sowing for the first time this year and I love it. they did great (as long as the dogs didn't get my markers to tell me what I planted)lol.

I'm up for anything anyone wants to throw at me.

happy collecting.

Hi Pheadra! Just letting you know I put my seeds in the mail today! Bloom

Lindenwold, NJ(Zone 7a)

Hi Pheadra, I took my seeds to the post office today. I am glad I did because the postage was more than I thought it would be...The new postage rates are giving me a headache. It seems like there is no consistency in what they charge. I sent out the same sized heavier bubble envelope last week and it cost me $1.30, but today it was $1.47. This is my daily vent...Anyway, you should have these in a couple days.

I am looking forward to receiving everyones seeds. Will you take a picture of all the pretty seed packs, once everyones has been received?

I find that if I use stamps from home, mailing is much cheaper than going to the post office-so far no one has said anything about postage due.
I have mailed small bubble envelopes (about 4 inches by 6 inches) for 2 stamps-was told they got there fine, no postage due...took the exact same one to the post office-$1.12!
When doing my last RR I really saw the difference. All were empty envelopes...metered from post office $1.30, same exact empty envelope-even same company who made it, for only 2 stamps! no postage due!!
Shocking-but I stay away from the P.O.

Arlington, GA(Zone 8a)

I will make myself a note to take photos of all of them when they come in,and post it.
6 more days.........to go........ and these are great packets coming in....

Morgantown, WV(Zone 6a)

I'm still at my daughter's house & I didn't get my seeds ready before I left home so I'm going to be cutting it to the wire.

On the postage thing even the PO can't get the rates straight. I took a bubble envelope to the PO to be sure 2 stamps were enough postage. They checked the weight & said it was good. A week & a half later it came back to me postage due. I took it back to the same PO & they said "that makes me mad". I said "me, too." LOL They put a $0.00 stamp on it & wrote on it & sent it again. This time it went through. It's ridiculous that they have 2 different rates for a large envelope depending on whether it's "an envelope" or "a package". If it doesn't bend or if it's thicker than a certain size it has a higher rate. Why can't it just be by weight & simplify things.

I mailed 2 business size envelopes with thin bubble wrap around one seed pack in each envelope the other day & apparently one baggie had slightly more air in it because it was too thick for the regular postage but the other one was fine.

Hi,
I almost have my packets ready for mailing but just want to double check the deadline. I haven't been on here much and really don't feel like going thru all the post to make sure it hasn't been pushed up.
Is the deadline for mailing our packets of seed still Nov. 1st?

Arlington, GA(Zone 8a)

RainyJane,I would like to have them in the mail to me on/by the 1st,So that I can have them back in everyone's hands by the 15th.

Arlington, GA(Zone 8a)

The p.o. folks have minds of them all.I received one earlier on that made it all the way to me and it need .48 cent additional postage, then (he)wanted to know if I would rather send it back to sender for postage...HUH! if it made it all the way here,I think I would prefer to pay the few cents...LOL

Arlington, GA(Zone 8a)

Pheadra.
So happy to hear the seeds finally got there...From looking at your pic and envisioning all the packets..I can't imagine how one could manage them all. Thank you for taking on this chore and may the garden angels always bless your flower crops.
This is my first seed swap and I am really excited about receiving the seeds.

Robynznest..I plan on sending you some datura seeds after they open. They didn't before our frost but someone in the datura forum said I could cut the stem off and put it in water in the house on heat and under lights and it would ripen or open that way...so I am waiting. I have plenty of the single all white that are ripe but I am waiting for a double purple.

Yes, tis a small world..and as you get older it gets smaller and smaller. I guess I've been thru or by N. Ridgeville..I am not too familiar with my surroundings as I am mostly homebound. My son made an apt for me on to his residence when my kids decided I couldn't make it on my own anymore.
He too is relatively new to the area. He opened an
aquarium store on R 82 or 83. Since I could no longer read or cochet or watch soaps (couldn't stand all the problems in their lives) I told him I'd always wanted a garden so He made me one. I do it from a wheelchair but do pretty well. He has to dig the holes or rototill..but I can still plant, weed and mulch..plus gather seeds if lucky. Well, good luck to us all this coming winter and spring with our new gotten seeds.

Fond regards to all Harvest Swappers gammy3

Gardening from a wheelchair - that's really quite impressive! Good therapy I would think. And a great way to keep busy.
I used to teach so my gardening was somewhat limited to the summer break. But 4 years ago MDH had a stroke & is totally disabled. I am caregiver 24/7. But gardening is almost an addiction to me. When someone asks how I find time I say "gardening is how I keep my sanity" LOL Seriously, it is an escape for me. Now that DH can get from his lift chair into his wheelchair alone he can come to the door & call when he needs me so it's a little easier for me to work outside. When he 1st came home from the hospital he couldn't even yell for help. We had to give him a bell. He still can't really "converse" but he says a few words & he does a pretty good job of letting us know what he wants. He has come a long way but it's a slow process.

Gammy and Pam, I am in total awe of you both and Thank you so much Gammy, I can't hardly wait.

I would like to be among the first to wish everyone Happy Thanksgiving or Happy Fall if you prefer.
