I have these in red but no photo either. They bloom late fall with no foliage. The foliage comes after the blooms die ~ hence the name naked ladies. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2109/ Like the rest of the bulbs, the foliage must be allowed to store nutrients for the blooms the next fall.
Around here these are old time passalongs. They are also commonly known as spider lilies or surprise lilies.
Very pretty... I have seen new cultivars in pinks, whites and yellows.
Show me you favorite Daylily
banana, yes I did read some of it. Right now I'm just using pieces of an old set of mini blinds for tags. I should switch to something that looks better, but right now there's just too much going on to start another project. Buying plants from coops is more fun.:)
Threads can and will always go anywhere.
Welcome back, Mitch
Oh I have been here... been a hard week so a lot of reading. I am now over testing at my school, and classroom, and field trips. So busy every day after school... and trying to get the school gardens all in shape and in order. Weekend is coming and I am back to my posting.
Lou - dont forget to let me know when it gets a little cooler when you want me to come and help.
Ok back to Daylilies!! Sorry Mitch.
There is a Daylily and Iris sale at Fort Worth Botanic Gardens this Saturday Sept 22nd 9-5pm, if anyone wants to go by and drool. (Just a note, the vendors aren't set up to take credit cards)
Sheila, do you know if there is a list of the daylilies that will be for sale?
If only I wasn't busy Sat.....I guess I say that everyday...lol.
No, there isn't a list that I can see. It isn't the FWBG selling them, it is the area groups doing it. Here is the link to FW Botanic Garden. www.fwbg.org look under Calendar Events. I think it is the FW Iris Society that puts it on. I know the Iris room is much more impressive than the one they have set up for Daylilies. The Iris vendors have pictures with their offerings.
Sept 22nd... ummmmm.... 9-5... ummm.... might have to try to make that one.
I asked off from work for this event 3 months ago!! LOL I'm still planning on being there. Heard it's better to get their earlier rather than later!
That American Indian is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
*drool* *drool* LOL
