I posted this on the Roundup forum but just wanted to add it here.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who had a part in organizing the Round Up yesterday. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and I'm sure I'll enjoy all the goodies I brought home.
To anyone who is lurking out there- join us next time! It's great fun and you don't have to bring alot of plants to trade. Many of us just want to find homes for our extras.
And if you haven't been to see the gardens at Plant Delights Nursery you are missing a real treat!
Shari
NC Roundup- What fun!
I ditto Shari's comments about the Roundup and Plant Delights Nursery. That is ONE sensational operation. The Lake Benson Park was the final touch to a great day. I appreciate everyone's hard work to make it a success.

And I thank you all for showing up.LOL
It was great to meet you and I also have some great plants even tho a few I have no clue how to take care of but will find out.
Love my books also.
The hubby has took the plant propergation one back to the coast with him. Hope he learns something from it.
Oh yeah and I now have some big pine cones. Thanks to Chamthy.

Karin and Shari
It was very cool, wasn't it? So nice of Tony Avent to come over to chat with us, too.
Thanks to you all for coming! I'd chat, but I'll be digging and planting thanks to all of you:-)))
Bev
I've posted some pics (non-person) on the roundup thread. If anyone wants their pics dmailed, just let me know.
We had so much fun--in a perfect world we'd be able to do something like that more often...but I guess that's what makes things special. I could have lived in that spot at the park, the little one and I went wading..so nice :)
Orange Juice
I remember when that place was the Buffaloe Family's Farm and I used to pick strawberry there. Its so beautiful, did you show your daughter the white deer?
Pinkpoodle
wanted to see what we all looked like did anyone get any of those pictures downloaded?
I can't share mine until I get another computer. Kodak has taken over thew whole picture program. GRRRRRRR
Lavina
Lavina, we missed the white deer, I heard tggfisk talk about it so it seemed surreal.......
I do have person pictures but didn't want to post them without permission, I can dmail them, though
tropicanna-I don't think anyone will mind-pictures of roundups are posted all the time! I want to see everyone!! I wish I could have been there-had to transplant all day (not to mention water everything..) and also I have been sick for a week with a stupid cold-yuck! I am sure noone would have wanted me there, coughing all day.
tigerlily, I posted some pictures that had no people on the Roundup forum, but actually said that because I personally value my privacy so highly :)
So you guys have to come to the next one and you'll see us..lol
tigerlily and rebecca...Yeah, we talked about you while you weren't there. Perfectly valid reasons you had, but we missed you anyway:-)
BTW, hope you are feeling better, tigerlily.
Bev
thanks Bev-I am so sick of this cold-how weird to have one with this heat-huh? I have had either a sore throat or mucus/cough for over 10 days now. I started anti-biotics on Sat so I hope it goes away soon. I just keep working with it. Glad you guys all had a good time. I always hate missing the food! lol
edited to say-no problem Tropicanna! I always hate having my picture taken-I hate posing for pictures!

Yeah, Greenthumb_NC made a killer broccoli salad, too! I nearly made myself sick eating it:D
Tigerlily: I was sick all last week, too so I couldn't go either. I was laying around, taking aspirin, wondering what a good time I was missing. I'd love to see photos, too!
Sure would've liked to have met everyone. Next time, for sure!
Deb
Deb,
Sorry to hear that you were sick and hope that you've recovered. We did miss you. Next time, for sure!
Bev
Thanks, Bev. Of course I started feeling better on Sunday afternoon. Too late. :) Oh! and the weirdest thing. My Dr. said she thought I had West Nile Virus. Darn mosquitos.
Deb
We'll need to do this again- I want to stay longer than 4 seconds! Actually, I spent too much money, started feeling antsy because my father-in-law looked so pitiful that morning, so decided to go back to the house early. On the way back my husband called and said they were taking his Dad to the hospital via ambulance. So, that's where we spent the rest of the weekend. Poor thing, my father-in-law had had a stroke a couple weeks ago and had been in rehab and had just returned home. Why they released him, I don't know. Anyways, his electrolytes were a mess, he has a urinary tract infection and pneumonia. And did I mention he's totally blind and in his 80s? No wonder he looked so sad. Anyways, he's doing a bit better, but I would like a do over for the weekend.
Jenny
Deb, I hope they have ruled out West Nile. The mosquitoes have been terrible this year; I am scared to go out at dusk or dawn. I have the dog on K9Advantix which is supposed to protect him from fleas, ticks and mosquitoes, wish I could take it myself.
Jenny, what a sweet daughter in law you are. I had wonderful in-laws and I have the warmest memories of caring for them when they needed bit of help.
alice
Alice: Yes, I think my dogs are better protected than I am! (apparently). For a drought year, the mosquitos have been particularly fearsome. Anyway, doc says West Nile is fairly common and most people don't know they have it - because it's like a mild flu. Goes away on its own for 80% of the people that get it; but, it can be very, very serious for those with weak immune systems.
On the other hand, maybe it was just some other "bug". Either way - much better - glad it's gone! :)
Deb
Deb- Glad you're feeling better!
Alice- Want/need any guinea fowl? I have lots of keets!
Jenny
LOL, there was a time when we had ducks, chickens and geese but I drew the line at the Guineas, too noisy. Now I would probably love them but, ahem, they don't allow that sort of critter on "D" Island. :-))) (but wouldn't it be a hoot?)
Deb, interesting about the West Nile, I had no idea it was so common.
Gosh, Deb....I hope that things resolve quickly. Don't worry...I think folks are planning to do this again next year. Plan to be well then;-)
Jenny...Hope your FIL is doing better. I'm sure he was quite frightened among other things. We did love getting to see you during your 4 seconds.
Bev
Bev: Thanks, I'll definitely be well then! :) I enjoyed seeing the PDN pics on the round-up forum. Sure would like to see People pics tho. :)
Deb
Hey, I don't mind if people post their pics with me in them...What can I say? I didn't take any, so it's up to those who did, or those who are IN the pics to post them on the threads...:-))
Anyhow...I had soooo much fun! My face hurt for days from all the laughing we did. And the plant trading and buying, and eating, and garden touring were fun, too!
Heck I have no problem anyone seeing me either. May be soon I will have my puter and I can post all of everyone but one of us.
Lavina
See, that was me BEFORE I paid for that wagonload of plants sitting just out of sight below the deck! Don't know who the lady in the hat was, but she was buzzing around Tony waiting for a turn to catch his ear.
She was trying to slide on in there, wasn't she?...she hung around for awhile..
I heard a rumor that you acquired some high dollar designer hosta
Yep, broke down and spent $50 on 'Stich in Time'...Shhhhh! Planted it already, though and it looks goooood! Not nearly as high dollar as they come, but more than I usually spend for something that lives outside;-)
Ooh? New Hosta? Show and tell Bev!
I talked some sense into Erin and she put hers back..lol...wish you could have been there, you could have gotten gingers or colocasia instead...lol
Will try and get pics into my photobucket album as soon as the flood lets up:-) Feast or famine, you know!
And you know that C. Yellow Splash you gave me is quite an addition! Been craving that one...so more than one itch was scratched!
I really do love that one, they pup out so fast....gotta new one...lol affinis jenningsii, one of the smaller runners, it's so cute
Gave Erin one of the green runner pups from the one you gave me. Looked so innocent in that little pot...I really do love it, though. It makes a sweet colony in the garden...Instant gratification!
If YS does that well, I'll have some to share in no time! That is, if I'm willing to give it up;-)
I think next year I'll leave them alone for awhile and let them really fill out before nabbing the runner pups. I kinda hate to admit that I wish I had picked up the Colocasia Lime Aide......but I can wait
And the rubarb, and the pink whatever that was...Too many 'wants', not enough 'wallet'!
I stick ridiculous stuff (not that those are ridiculous, you know what I mean) in the wants on my trade lists even though it's unlikely...you never know what someone has and what they might want that you have...yellow splash is prime trade fodder...lol
Some one had Rubarb there? Or was it just a plant with 1st anem as Rubarb?
Lavina
It was a colcasia with a very red stem named C. Rubarb. Really cool and expensive, too!
Bev
