Ron's seed..
very nice today..
I. parasitica
This is beautiful! How do I get one?
wonderearth,
Maybe Ron has more seeds, I swear to this.. this plant is not forming pods, the first one I left alone, nothing., the second one I tried to hand polliinate, nothing, the third one I left alone and nothing. I even sang "Hey Baby let the good times Roll" and still nothing..lol
Hopefully it will do something in the near future, it is full of buds, they are in clusters.
Antoinette - Nice photos...the species is from the New World and the seeds were collected in Mexico...
I hope this plant produces some seeds...making sure that pollen gets onto the stigma by some hand assisted pollination is definitely better than non-intervention...
wonderearth - This species is just being grown out for the 1st time and is not yet been introduced into cultivation...
I only received 15 seeds that were collected by a botanist in Mexico...one shot deal...
I won't be getting any more...and I've already distributed most of the few seeds that I had >so if the plants that Gourd or Beth have produce some more seeds >that will be a good sign for any/all persons interested to eventually enjoy growing this species first hand...
TTY,...
Ron
A, a beautiful shade of blue, love this one.
Well here's hoping. Good luck with the hand pollinating. If anyone ends up with any seeds let us know. Lydia
Great photos of a beautiful flower! Thanks, A! - Arlan
So glad to see continued blooming on this plant...
Hey Gourd ,
I even sang "Hey Baby let the good times Roll" and still nothing..lol
Try Singing 'Waltzing Matilda'
What a lovely Picture .
Thanks for sharing .
I moved my parasitica indoors to the grow room, where the bright lights get the temps up into the 90's. It has really "taken off" and done more growing in the past 2 weeks than it did all summer.
This one here is full of buds.. I hope it makes seeds..
I don't know the words to that particular song.. but I'll look it up.
Ron, so far the four things (dont' what to say pods, because they are not pods yet) were on there this morning, but the flower itself falls off almost as soon as it closes, it doesn't hang around like the regular mgs. On some of the regular I. nils and purpureas I've seen the flower/petals attached till the seeds are almost dry in some cases.
Ron, is that normal on these species types, I notice that on some of the others too. The flower itself falls off pretty quick, within 24 hours, it seems.
Beth, get ready for some real shocking and outstanding flowers. They stop you in your tracks.
A - As I've shared with you already >This is the 1st time this species is being grown out by any gardeners and we're both learning about it as it develops...I haven't read anything about the flowers being particularly short lived...and there is zero information about this species in cultivation anywhere on the web...so just try to be sure it gets pollinated and all we can do is hope for the best...
TTY,...
Ron
I learned it likes...actually NEEDS...hot weather!
Ron, Thanks for the info.. the full impact of it not being grown is just hitting me like a kick in the .. head..lol., I'll try my best.. the buds and flowers are pretty spread out, although I have it wound around some bamboo sticks, it has gone up a little ways on a pole, so I'll have to keep my eye on it to make sure I pollinate whatever blooms higher. Please let me know if there are certains things I should photograph that If I haven't already.
Beth,
Also, some of these species are fall bloomers I think. This one has been outside since probably April sometime, and I am so surprised that it bloomed, I wasn't expecting anything yet.
Beautiful!!!
BIG P.S.
The subject line should read: I. parasitica MX
NOT Australia, I had the other plant on my brain when taking photos.. I've asked Admin to fix my error, so if you see a change, that is why..
Do a little Dance...
A.
Fantastic(!)...
If there is ever enough of these to go around I would give my eye teeth for just a couple.
Hi Ron,
You talked me into joining.
Thanks, I am even more addicted. ;0)
ladyblues

This is so cool! I would love to participate in trying to get this plant going here. Ipomoeas do really well here. If there are any extra, I would love to try to start a few. I understand if there aren't enough but if there are any I'd be really thrilled to get just a couple? I've grown a couple different morning glories from seeds and one perenial type from cuttings. I love them. - Lydia

P.S. - I'm cryin'...
Why are you cryin....??? The animals make my yard come alive and me sometimes.
If it wasn't for the camera that works on it's own, I couldn't have made it possible for the photos to get on here.
Thank you though for the nice things you say about me and, well you know!!!. it's the love of life that keeps us growing.
A.
Antoinette - I bet Ron's cryin cause YOU "got it going on" in your piece of paradise!
YOU just raised the bar for everyone else! :-) (Myself included!)
Oh, these are Ron's Goldmines and I am just but a miner..mining the gold. Thank you Becky for the compliment.. just so happy to be able to grow some out and also, blessed to have the time.

That poor toad is awful close to the pricklies!
Yeah, he is, he has two baskets and this pot that he uses.. I sure wouldn't pick this one, but he is probably safer from the dogs in this one. (he probably knows it too)..lol..
He makes a tunnel in the baskets, and uprooted some of my succulents, one died and I thought I overwatered it, but come to find out, this little fellow pushed up all the roots out of the soil while digging.
