Light requirements for Carpinus caroliana (Am hornbeam)?

I just bought a small Carpinus caroliana (Amercian hornbeam) and I'm seeing conflicting about sun requirements. Is this really able to deal with full sun - shade?

Should be able to cope with the full range. European Hornbeam (C. betulus) certainly can.
