This one appeared this morning and I did not take a photo, but it was still there at 6 PM so I took these shot.. shoulda taken the photo this morning...

What could cause this?

A - The 1st photo shows a grand total of 3 separate petals...the 2nd photo shows a different bloom with 5 fused petals...

The 1st bloom looks to be missing 2 petal ribs...something didn't form completely and it's certainly unusual...

Tag the 1st bloom...

Yeah, the second flower is a different one. Will tag it in the morning. They are really big plants and climbing all over the place.

Antoinette - Those are really odd. I am growing CC in my garden too in two different areas. I have not seen anything unusual like your blooms! That's really neat to see such mutants! Very cool! :-)

Today there was one that only split half way.. very weird too..

It's kind of nice to see these different occurrences, more than the brain could imagine sometimes..lol.
