With the severve drought we had here, alot of trees and shrubs turne d crispy cruncy durign the summer , but have foudn a few that doing good.
Found a giant Oak tree, didn't identify it yet, wa s in ahury, but notice d it loade d with acrons and was gonan gather some for thos e folks that wante d oak seeds from the tre e seed wante d thread , whch I can't find of f hand. grrrr.
I notice d that the oak nuts are still green though , but they are bug fre e and wondere d if they could picke d now or do I have to wait for them to turn brown?
Also, before I pick them, is anybody intereste d or have ontheir want list Ternstromia gymnanthera? They almost ready. They about halfway red .
Oak seeds?
We have been droughty here too, but my Water Oaks are loaded with acorns.
I have also noticed lots of pecans this year too.
The pecans are heavy this year aroudn her e too even with the drought, but think that becaus e we didnt have so many last year and think that cold snap early gave them a boast. Could be wrong though.
Notice d the Pine trees are gonan be ready her e to start gathering seed in about a week.
