This strange wasp was on my kitchen screen, just now!
I don't know if he/she has an exceptionally long "stinger"(I'd judge 7-8 inches), or if it is a long tail.
I've lived in this area for 60 years and have never seen one like it.
I apologize for the poor quality, but I was too leery to get closer!

It looks like the Giant Ichneumons, that thing is scary, but this link says it's her ovipositor and she lays eggs in wood with it.
