I was out watering and heard something hitting the leaves of the gardenias. It was a couple of dozen of these caterpillars, dropping like rain out of the trees above. Curious if someone recognizes them?

Flygirl: Well done! I think you got it. I've caught his relatives eating my azaleas in the past, but this one apparently is less of an eater. :)

It looks like they are related to the Walnut and Yellow-necked cats that are heavy defoliators. Many of them drop to the ground when they are ready to pupate, so wear a hat Deb! LOL
