Blooms for 09-04-07

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Karen - GAWGEOUS Lady in Waiting! I love the soft fluffiness! So femenine! (sp?)

Cat - HA!! You carck me up. I really, really like your blooms. You and Robert have me green with envy!!

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Well, everyone of you have beautiful blooms!! ;)

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Before leaving for an appointment, I visited Hidden Valley to place an order. All that is left is pots...empty!

Tussee

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Tussee,
You can email them and they can put you on their waiting list. When the new batch is ready, they will let you know :)

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Maayyyyybee Tussee meant she bought them ALL before we could. LOL

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Uh oh - so cat, does this mean we should trade yards with Tussee instead? :)

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Where did you find Nightfire? It is going on my want list.

All your flowers are beautiful. I think I will check out Hidden Valley, with as much stuff I have ordered lately they should give me one free.

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I got mine from www.fancyhibiscus.com but David had some at touch of the tropics. Which I replenished nightfire by adding another one :)

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Have you heard of Hibiscus Place? I just ordered Night Fire from them. There was only 1 post-a positive in the PF. Of course, I ordered 3 others and will wait until Spring to get my long admired Bon Temps. They will have to live upstairs with me this winter.... getting out the mite spray! I wanted to order from David, but I thought he was sold out :( and HVH didn't have any of something I wanted, so I ordered them from HP. I will wait until Spring, for Bon Temps and a couple others I won't be able to live without by then.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I've been really happy with them (obviously...since that was my post in the Watchdog!). There are other people who've ordered from them though, I don't remember who but before I ordered from them for the first time, I had asked on here if other people had bought from them, and there were a couple of other people who'd ordered from them and liked them. So I think you can be confident that you'll get nice plants.

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

If their plants really are that great, I should order from them, since they are also located in Florida! What size do they sell?
I've written several times, with promises of responses once plants are ready, but no responses in the last few weeks.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

The ones I've gotten from them were in 6" pots (I think) but the plants were all big and about ready to move to an 8" pot when I got them. I'm not sure if they have other sizes too, I think that's the only one. When I've emailed with interest in plants, they've always been good about letting me know when they're ready--but the 2 times I had to wait for plants, the first email they sent me told me it was 2-3 wks before the plants would be ready, maybe on yours they weren't sure so it's taking a little longer?

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I just emailed again and offered to drive there. It is 2-1/2 hours away, but a very relaxing drive.

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

I just emailed them to see if they had NightFire available. Let you know if I hear from them. There is a minimun order of 2 plants and an additional $5.00 shipping charge on orders under $50.00.

Note this: All of our plants are either grafted onto Pride of Hankins rootstock or are varieties with vigorous roots ensuring an excellent root system for rapid growth and blooming.

I know my Black Dragon had a branch growing on it that didn't look anything like it and the flower that was blooming was completely different so I wrote Dave and he told me it had been grafted onto a Pride of Hankins rootstock. Told me to cut it off. So I did and now I have two plants for the price of one.

cat4gp if you do drive to there business maybe I could work something out with you. Would you consider or am I stepping over the boundary?

Linda

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Linda,
Dmail me. If it would save you money and give you better quality, of course I would.
I am off Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday, so hopefully he will let me go there one of those days next week.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

I waited a couple days for the initial reply. But I've ordered 4 and the price is reasonable if the plants are ready for an 8 in pot... Guess I'll see.. That would be most fun, driving there in person..... could be a disaster to my checking account, though! I'll be sure to post in the watchdog once I have the plants. Let us know what how it goes if you do drive there, Cat. thx Oh, anybody have Hot Ross? I thought it was eye-catching, too!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Aunt B,
Matt wrote back to me and said going there in person is fine. I am going on Tuesday. I can let you know how "Hot Ross" looks in person.
Of the 15 I inquired about, he is holding 10 for me.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

OMG, that should take the total up to 83, right? :-))))
LOL

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Ummm, I'm too embarrassed to say at this point, because I also bought 4 from David and 4 Snow Queens and 4 Fire & Ice to replace my garden varieties that died in the floods.

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

LOL, Cat!!! It's okay, you NEED those hibiscus ;-) I totally understand...

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Me to.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

:-)))))
Cat, I would love to see you garden, it must be a true riot of color.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Well, I mean you are getting a great deal and most ARE "replacement" plants ;) ...... Trip and purchases ARE justified, Cat.... go for it! And, thanks for checking them out for us ;)!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Ya know,
I suppose I could write it off as a home improvement on my taxes, since I am a first time homebuyer with a first home. (granted if the house I bought is 22 years old, that doesn't count)

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

It WILL enhance your property! Maybe you should get more!

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Just think what you would be paying for a landscaper. Can that be deducted as home improvement?

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

Wow, I didn't know all this - I've been missing out on a TON of tax deductions then ;-)
