Show me your fall blooms

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, with these it will be rather easy because I have some more sunflowers growing here at work that i can take home to feed them. and i just happened to have a large empty terrerium at the house just waiting to be occupied. Whatelse should I feed them?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

That is all you need, just give then fresh sunflower leaves everyday. They develop pretty fast because they are small. You will have a ball.
Josephine.

Bronchbuster,( I have been away, so I couldn't offer you some plants) If you mulch mexican bush sage well it will likely come back . I have had 4 plants for over 10 years.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

I also love the grasses in the fall.

I cut Mexican Sage to the ground after first frost....don't even mulch and it comes back bigger than ever. It is beautiful. Banana, the grass is great. Never thought about combing grasses.

Gorgeous blooms, Bananna!

Blue eyes, do you have any seeds from that MG? If so, could I get some?

Here are some more fall blooms. I'll start with my beloved Sweet Alyssum. First is 'Carpet of Snow'.

Bronc, how smart. You have the rose in some sort of container that would keep the leaves dryer and less black spot. Goodness, with all the rain this year mine lost the leave over and over. Now about to flush with blooms once again.

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Lou, but I assure you it had nothing to do with my intelligence! I got that rose from my MIL in very bad condition in January. I've been nursing it back to health. It came in that container and I just moved it out into the yard where it could get more sun. I was planning on finding it's ideal location and putting it in the ground this fall.

Here's some more blooms from around my work

This looks like Goldenrod but I'm not quite sure.

How pretty. There are lots of people that will be able to ID.

O.K. #3 is Prickleleaf dogweed, http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=THAC

#2 Verbena Halei
http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=VEHA

and #3 Canada Goldenrod for sure.

Josephine.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

I knew you'd help, Jo.

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Josephine, look at the petals on my #3. See how they split at the ends to form two tips on each petal. The dogweed just have regular petals.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

There are many types of Dogweed. You are right about the petals, so I could be mistaken, but i have always knows that plant as dogweed, maybe I was told wrong, I hope you can get to the bottom of it, I have to go to work now.
Josephine.

Bitter Rubberweed

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

You are right, it is Bitterweed, good detective work!! I checked and there is another Bitterweed by a different scientific name; Helenium amarum http://www.wildflower.org/gallery/result.php?id_image=14654
Check this one too and see which one is closer, because I posted a picture on the plant files thinking it was Dogweed and i have to ask them to move it to the proper place.
We learn something every day, don't we?
Josephine.

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, Josephine, I know I do!

It's hard to say which one I have here. They look very similar. Do you notice any differences? If you can list the differences you see, maybe I can I.D. these.

Thank you Josephine!

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

I think Helenium amarum is the plant I have here. It's bloom period is April thru September. That's much longer than the other. Thanks again, Josephine!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I think Helenium amarum is the right one too, especially by the form of the plant.
I will ask them to move my picture as soon as I get a chance.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

It also reminds me of Tetraneuris scaposa var. scaposa
Bitterweed, Four Nerve Daisy, Stemmy four-nerve daisy.
