CLOSED: These sounded like bee's.... but what are they???

Robertsdale, AL

I just happened to walk by this weed and these bugs were flying around and seemed to be attacking it... at first it sounded like bee's... but when I looked I noticed they weren't but there were a bunch of them and they seemed very mad... they were grouped up on the end of this weed. Sorry the pic is a little blurred.... I hope you can see it good enough to tell me what they are!!!!

Maybe this one?

Yes... it does resemble that. And when I read more, from the link you gave me.. one of them said the buzzing... so that could possibly be it. It just really threw me... as I'd never seen them before... thought they were honey bee's at first.... We do have some fig tree's but they weren't anywhere close to them!!! Thanks for the help. I am very glad I found your site... and am telling everyone about it. It's so helpful and I love seeing all the pics!!!

Back in Ga. we called them Junebugs. When we were kids we would tie a string around one of their legs and we'd have a live airplane. The string would be about 3 ft. long. I know, that was cruel and wouldn't do that now but sure was fun for us kids. Don't know what their real name is. The bugs never bit.

Yeah, they look a lot like Green June Beetles to me. They come from those big grubs you find in you lawn.
