Tar leaf and dropping leaves causing stained driveway.

We have a large maple tree in front of our house that has continuously dropped leaves for the past month! We have been told by a Master gardener that is is Tar leaf. Has anyone heard of this and what can we do? Our new driveway and sidewalk is really stained bad from the leaves and we have no idea how to clean it. There are rusty spots covering a large amount of it. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks. Meem

I never heard of tar leaf so can't help you on that one. But for cleaning it, I'd try a pressure washer, that's probably your best shot. Then you might consider sealing your concrete after you've washed it, that might help prevent future stains from leaves or other things.

Cleaning driveways is never easy. After you clean the stains off, I suggest you go with ecrane3's idea and seal the concrete.

Thanks Betty and Ecrane, I printed all the info and hope I can find the products. I am going to try and seal the drive in the spring. It is really a mess right now and will be until the rest of the leaves fall from this massive maple. Meem
