Kathleen,
A very Happy Birthday to you sweet lady. :-)
I hope your day is a great one. Stay cool in this heat wave and eat lots of Ice Cream with your Birthday Cake. lol

Happy Birthday Kaperc
Thanks very much for the flowers and wishes, everyone! It's 60 and I hope they continue to be as good! DH came home with a bouquet of orchids last night! We're driving up the coast to visit Roger's Gardens (never been) and then to lunch in Laguna Beach and/or whatever takes my fancy. It's my day, yippee! Well, also Mum's - have to thank her, too. lol
K, have you already left for Roger's? Remember...they had Dancing Dolls salvia last week...be sure to look for it 'cause you might need to have this one. The annoying thing about Roger's is that like any sensiblenursery they kept the salvias all together, then last year someone decided to change that. Things were put together in pretty looking groupings instead of the sensible rows and there was no group of salvia...they were here and there. I ttruly didn't notice last week whether or not they'd changed that since I saw the Dolls and had eyes for nothing else (and room for nothing else!). After leaving, however I realized that I hadn't seen them with other salvia or I would have to have checked them all out. So...hope you haven't left yet, if you don't see the salvia all together, ask and look around. Happy, Happy! Good day to go to the beach.
Sherry
Hey Kathleen, now that's a birthday day that all gardens would love to do. I hope you enjoy yourself and have a yummy lunch too.
Stay cool today, it's gonna be a hot and humid day.
Donna
Kathleeeeeen, have you already left? Stop at Plaaaaaant Depoooooot in Capo Beeeeeeeach.....can you heeeeeeear me?
Sorry, I missed that last one, Sherry! You weren't loud enough. Where's Capo? Roger's was great - DH even enjoyed it, for a while. :-)
I didn't get the DD, but did get a Black and Blue Salvia - I have wanted one for ages - and a Penstemon called Apple Blossom.
Lunch was FANTASTIC! We used to go to Las Brisas for Sunday brunch - we figured out the first time was about 18 years ago. Excellent for a special treat and I enjoyed every calorie. lol
I know, I didn't think of Plant Depot til you were already gone....San Juan Capistrano, really great nursery. Make that your next trip. Jer likes going to Roger's also. Actually, he's gotten real good about going nursery shopping with me 'cause I take him to nice ones in good locations at the beach and then feed him lunch or dinner somewhere. He's usually the first one ready to go now. LOL....
Black and Blue and Apple Blossom penstemon are really good ones...perhaps my cuttings will take of the Dancing Dolls and then you'd have that too.
Glad you had a good day for your b'day. I read somewhere the idea of celebrating half -years as b'day also, or having Birthday Week. Love that idea.
Sherry
Weegy, thanks for the flower! I have 10 plumies now! (Thanks to our friend Clare.) Virgos reign.
Sherry, Capo - Capistrano - duh. Sounds like Plant Depot would round out a trip to Tree of Life sometime. I celebrate the whole month of August, but start really concentrating the last week! lol DH and I (and anyone nearby) use it as an excuse for anything fun we want to do. My sister's birthday is the 6th, my brother's the 24th, then mine.
And my father's was the 27th. Good idea...Tree of Life AND Plant Depot, maybe a picnic at Dana Cove.
YW. :-) hope the bday was great one.
Stupendous, Louise!
I find it hard to believe it's 60!
Plant Depot is visible from the 5 (inland) and just your way from the Ortega Hwy turn... I think one exit, but I am geographically and spatially challenged...
They are a mega-plant-center but they have unusual cultivars and even garden-friendly natives or hybrids of natives as well as the mass-market annuals. (Still wish I had got that big Dara's Choice [black sage X] several years ago!) Also they have a big accessory department (hats, gloves, wind-chimes) inside -- just what a birthday girl needs!
Happy day (late)!
~'spin!~
Thanks 'spin! I will definitely have to go there this fall. Combined with a trip to TOL, it's a winner.
