ID this horrible creature please!!!!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Kassia -
You are kidding, right?! We did NOTHING to scare him away!!!????
ARGH!
Maybe you should move the trap closer to the brush in the woods where his burrow most likely is. Bait the trap with watermelon rind and leave it alone for a few days. He needs to feel comfortable with the contraption and hungry enough to go in for the tempting treat.
Hopefully he'll fall for it over the weekend.
Deb

Kassia, when I had the groundhogs they were dining on my tomatoes. When I got the trap I put a ripe tomato in it and put it right next the garden. The tomatoes are in a raised bed. I caught two groundhogs in about a week. I haven't had any more groundhogs since last summer. Knock on wood.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Debi, no kidding... he was there and came close to the trap... but silly me forgot to put the tomato inside!!!! then of course when I came around he run away....

NO t-shirts for him! or he will be nice and cozy and spend the winter around again... no... he needs to go away!!!!

Maybe Kass needs one of them in the garden. They are territorial so maybe he'll see the plush one and leave.

Eleanor! Your desk is much too neat and clean!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sure it's the same one Kass? Could be his cousin.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

neddless to say I have no idea when he got in the trap... I was gardening all day... and cut the grass and so on... I was picking tomatoes and kept hearing some thing... never believed you could be successful using a trap would work without bait!!!!! Woody is not very bright!!!

well, my entire family didn't help... they all wanted me to release Woody... and the stupid thing looked cute... so all I could do was to cry... and I kept thinking was his little eyes... and he was not agitated or afraid... very cute... so I called Debi and she and her husband came and took Woody to another place so he found another home...

my neighboor told me that he would have killed him for me.. I could not even think of it... I can't kill anything... all I can think of it was Lilly's eyes and the litlle turtles I love so much...
maybe if he was hissing and was all looking mean I would feel different... I don't know... I just was so sad...

but Debi and her husband came and now he has a new home!!! and I am not crying anymore!!!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

well, to be honest I think there is another one , bigger than this one... so the trap is back out there waiting for the next one...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good - all worked out then. As for your non-killing promise, I'm sure the JB's will be happy to hear that.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

that doesn't not apply to bugs.... specially not to JB.... by all means!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Too late! You said 'anything'.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

well, I lied then.... I WILL KILL JB... they eat my roses.... if Woody had eaten any roses I think I would have not cried!!!!

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Kassia -maybe the other woodchuck you saw was my plush woodchuck. I got him at the gift shop at the National Zoo when DD #1 and I went to DC last May. When I saw him I just had to have him in honor of my woodchuck family. All DD #1 could say was, "you're going to spend money on a stuffed woodchuck - you gotta be kidding me!! I ain't gonna carry the *^%#@ thing!! You bought it - You carry it!!!" Eleanor

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Kassia - such terrific news to start the day!

Eleanor - so glad you came home with your woodchuck.

Upper Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5a)

Kassia - how could I forget to congratulate you!! I feel like an idiot! Well, Most of the time I am one so that explains it - anyone who buys a stuffed woodchuck!! Congratulations!! Congratulations!!! Congratulations!!! Congratulations!!! Congratulations!!! Congratulations!!! Congratulations!!! Congratulations!!! Does that make up for my lack of whatever you call it?? Eleanor

When we lived in central PA, we had a terrible problem with woodchucks in our pasture. We were always worried about our horses and cattle injuring their legs in the holes. My dog Bruce, a big Boxer, finally caught his first woodchuck, which twisted around and bit Bruce on his tongue, a bloody mess that required a visit to the vet. From that day forward, Bruce, was looking for revenge! He became very adept at stalking woodchucks in our pasture, when they were grazing away from their holes, then making a final 20 yard dash, catching them, and shaking them until he broke their spines. He made a major dent in the woodchuck population.

It is not a creature but what kind of flowers are these - please.

I saw Woody #2 this morning... and it's as big as the #1... so according to my sister there is another one that is way bigger and has a floppy belly... oh dear, it's probably an entire family...

I also saw a cute deer last night... and she just stared at me... I could not believe how close she was .... this one is bold!!! didn't even run away!!! so I kind of exited quickly .... it could have been a mad deer after all!!!! maybe she was friends with woody #1~~~

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Mad Deer!!! Oh My.........The animal kingdom is not cutting you much slack, Kass!!! Are you sure Woody1 didn't find his way back to your house??? I've known lots of cats who could do that!
