Could someone please tell me what this is? I am hoping it is a good cat. as I am not going to kill it as it is beautiful.....

it was on the ground near my plumerias...
So is it not a tomato hornworm ??? I dont care as I am letting him go tomorrow anyway I can't kill the little cuttie...

I don't know - it has a lot of brown on it - I was thinking one of the tree-eating sphinx moths ?

It looks like a mutant Pink-spotted Hawkmoth:

But all that brown/red on his back.....can't find that anywhere. Not sure either.

I am sorry the picture was so bad... I let him go today... We have allot of the URL above moths.. Also the humming bird moth. I just could not kill him... Now if he were a JBeetle I would have had no problem..LOL

I'm glad you spared his life, he is cool. It's hard to keep them when you don't know what they are and don't know what they eat.
I looked through a lot of sphinx moth cat pics and could not find a match, sorry.
