Who's Andy??? Hee hee. Thanks stranger.
I hate to tell your friend there Andy, but I remember a goose trying to bite me as a kid and it ended up doing some 'laps' ;)
Al, it wasn't a lap dance to goose heaven, was it?
Oh no!, a couple revolutions and it forgot what it was doing.
Any ideas for the perfect Tanglewood picnic?
Al, were you a mailman in Maine at one point? I had a duck named Fuzzy Wuzzy just like the photo Andy posted and he and the mailman did not get along. We didn't get mail for over 2 weeks cause Fuzzy bit the mailman. Dad banded Fuzzy to a relative's farm for the remainder of his years.
Venu, are those yours? They are adorable!!!! That was a nice way to start my day with a picture of some soft babies.
Speaking of BABIES,,,,,,did I tell you I went with my daughter to her Ultra-Sound this week and saw my new grandchild!! I getting another Grandaughter!!!!!!! Due Date is Jan. 6th but I'm secretly hoping for Jan. 3rd or Jan. 1st.
Andy:
As you can tell, you have been missed. Please come back and visit more often.
Venu what cute little babies. Those ducks and geese can get very aggressive if you stray onto their territory, and they are really fast for having feet more designed for swimming.
Pix what lovely news that a new granddaughter is on the way. Keep us posted, maybe a new year's baby. :) Very exciting!
What cute photos! Around here we have tons of Canada Geese...so much so they are a nuisance! For the most part they are used to humans but occassionally you will find a moody bird and they will chase you LOL
Congrats Celeste! Jan 1st is a great birthday - same as mine!
Andy ....
that's beautiful!!!
Thanks, Candyce. That's a one in a thousand flower with a single white petal. Kassia had one last month.
Thats really neat that it only has one white petal. Don't just love it when stuff like that happens?
I love it when some oddity like that happens! It's like the gardening gods swooped down and said, "You are worthy to have this majesty happen to you!"
Random changes like that can make for great new varieties.
Went to an estate sale at a house in Southport that was built in 1846! The had a set of chairs for sale that were made circa 1750 and you could still sit in them - just you'd have to be fairly thin as people must have had smaller behinds back then. I loved the house as the floors downstairs were the original wide boards and the fireplaces were the shallow ones that kept the house really warm (and probably spewed smoke into the room) and if I had hit powerball last night I would have tried to buy it. There was hardly any yard, however as it backed up to the Southport train station parking lot. I liked it so much I went back today to buy the door mat. It is oversized and made out of recycled tire treads. I got it for $2 - what a bargain. I've only ever been in one older house up in Greenfield Hills. The floor boards were up to 20" wide in that one - they just sliced the whole tree and laid the slices for a floor. I realized that going to Tag Sales here isn't always about finding a treasure - it is as much about learning the history of the place I now call home. (I also got a brand new dibble for $3 yesterday.)
Very nice one petaled wonder there Andy. Amazing stuff happens and as gardeners we get to watch a few first hand. So neat!
AYC don't you just love old places like that, imagine all the families that have lived there and added or took away something no one will ever really know. The workmanship and materials that they used will never be seen again. These things are worth preserving as well and as long as we can. :)
Did you play duck, duck, goose?
We're waiting for the taste test.
Andy - we will expect hot, mulled wine at the Winter RU!
Cute kids, DawnLL
Andy - blackberries AND grapes? How did you end up so lucky?
I picked a few last night. Very sweet & juicy but they need a few more days.
Michaela, I also have pears, apples, cherries & nectarines. The nectarines are in trouble, though. They turn black and fall off.
Andy P
Wow just look at those buildings!
Nice shots Victor. The NYPL window shot is very nice and all garden shots get big points here. :)
I like the library pic there Victor. We have a lot of buildings like that here - although they are only 2 or 3 stories tall ;)
Maybe you're just shorter than you've realized.
Oh nice pic Al! Never seen one of those in person, very neat attire.
ANDY!!!!!! thanks for the dahlia.... yes, the sister plant is growing in my garden!!!!! I keep checking to see if more are coming!!!! still have tons of blooms... I just love those dahlias.... they are so well behaved!!!! no need for support... and they look fabulous... I already have plans for them for next year!!!
Nice bug!!!! very nice camouflage !!!! but I think he is a bit skinny... almost anorexic!!!!!
