CLOSED: A very Pretty Beetle

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

I had one of these hanging around a few weeks ago and I couldn't get a decent picture. Today I had one on my arm and even after freezing him for a few minutes, he still wouldn't sit very still. Been to the Bug Guide to try to find him, but I have dial up and the beetle page takes forever to load. Hope someone here will be able to look at him and give him a name. I just love the colors!

He looks like a stink bug. Some of them are very colorful little creatures, in part to warn predators who might be thinking of chomping them "YOU'LL BE SORRY!" :) http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-US&ie=utf8&oe=utf8&q=virginia+stink+bug&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi :) Stink bugs belong to the order Coleoptera, and family Pentatomidae.

Oh that is so awesome!! Thanks Mike and Joe. I'm going to use him as a subject in one of my painting projects because he is so neat.
