Have you ever seen a multicolored Crape Myrtle?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

It is labeled Red Rocket but I can't google any others that look like this one.

It has 3 very different colors. Red, light pink and a dark pink.

Very pretty! I've never seen that one but I may just have to get myself one! I definitely don't think it's Red Rocket, all the pics of that one show it as plain red, and even the darkest flowers in your pic don't look the right color for Red Rocket. The only one I've ever seen that has any color variation is Peppermint Lace, but it's lighter pink and the difference in colors isn't nearly that dramatic

I tried googling for multicolored crape myrtles and ran across 'Bicolor', but it doesn't look like quite like yours either

Hi Liz!! You really get around. LOL

I have Peppermint Lace. It is not very dramatic in its color change. This one is very obvious.

Thanks for looking around for me.

My neigbor has a purple crape myrtle that comes out in about 3 or 4 different shades. Truthfully I don't like the look and I thought is was some sort of genetic problem.

Dear Kell,

I believe you have a very new cultivar, only available since last summer as far as I know. It is called "Dynamite", I have the same blooms on mine. This is a big one 20 - 40 ft!
Enjoy!!! Pam

Thanks Pam. It is not Dynamite though, which I already have. Dont you love Dynamite? I especialy like the red tinged foliage on that Dynamite. It is such a pretty tree. I think it has been available for sometime though for I have had one for a while now.

CoreHHI, gee, I probably would love that purple. Wish you had a picture. I have been trying to find a real purple for sometime. And one with several shades would be so great.
