CLOSED: ugly guy but what is he?

Found this little guy on my black eyed susans today. I assume he is some sort of moth? Anyone know exactly what he is?

It's one of the looper moths, maybe Syngrapha epigaea?

Yes, deffinatly in that family. Thanks! The pictures still make it hard to find an exact identity but oh well. I was really curious as to what the catapillar may have looked like. I had seen a very odd looking catapiller earlier in the season. That was before I had the camera I have now and I was not able to get a very good close up picture of it though.

I found the picture I have of the catapillar I had seen. Though I am not seeing any catapillar pictures under the Syngrapha epigaea, the other looper catapillars look nothing like this.

I think this is a good possibility for the hairy blonde caterpillar, the American dagger moth:
