Well, look who's here! Hiya Flyboy!
'Brad's White' aka 'FlyboyFl White'
Hi Brad! It's great to see you here. I was almost going to dmail you, but I knew you'd be back and find this thread. I sent away about ten packages of cuttings last fall after you sent me that huge box of cuttings, but it is tough to root them in the winter so I kept the remaining ones on a couple of heating mats all winter. I've given them away steadily to everyone who visits me and to all the plumie gatherings, and this is the last of them. I've also used a few center cuts for grafting stock, and it has proven to be very good grafting stock. I still have about 12 left and can do three more packages of four.
This was so nice of you to do. Bless you also, my friend. Your 'Brad's White' is now all over the country! I found a small one blooming today. It starts out as a light pink and quickly fades to white. My nose is a bit stuffed today, but it is soft floral to me. It is lovely. I have another inflo coming in a a bigger tree that I'll post as soon as it blooms.
Wow, those two cultivars look so stunning together, Brad. 'Teresa Wilder' has become one of my favorites. All the 'Teresa Wilders' went out in the fall. Thanks again for doing this.
Oh y'all have gotten my interest. Sorry to barge in on this thread. I just stumbled upon this thread by accident. Lucky me! I am very, very interested to hear what Brad has to say about this plant. And ..... I am wondering if this is the same plant that he sent me cuttings from last year???? Brad, please do tell? I've had my cuttings growing in pots and am getting ready to FINALLY transplant them into the ground. I have one in the ground currently and it seems to be VERY happy to spread it's roots! LOL! The rooted cuttings in the pots are doing well too, but I know they are past ready to be planted in the ground! I know this Plumeria gets large, so I have been clearing and delegating space for them around my backyard.
Mine haven't bloomed yet. Maybe not for another year since they have been in pots all this time? But Brad did tell me that they have white blooms and were cut from his large Plumeria when he pruned it back last year. (Which is why I think the cuttings are one and the same as those being offered here by Clare.) So I am ALL ears as to information about this hardy Plumeria! I've had great success rooting the cuttings he sent me. :-)
Hi Becky! I bet they are the very same cuttings that Brad sent out to you. He send a bunch out to several people and sent the rest to me to send out. If you are truly in Zone 9b, then you will want to protect your planted plumerias from frost by putting a portable greenhouse over them or a frost cloth to prevent frost damage.
Looks like we were all posting at the same time. Thanks Brad for all the helpful info and photos concerning your lovely Plumeria. I have one more question for you .... the Teresa Wilder.... I think you also sent me a cutting or two of another Plumeria which you marked with orange tape and you told me they had pinkish blooms. Were those from the Teresa Wilder Plumeria? If so, does it have any kind of fragrance? One of the cuttings didn't make it, but the other survived and is in the ground and doing quite well! I love them all!
Thank you again for sharing them with me! YOU truly are one of the most generous and kind DGers I know!!! Kinda neat to know that "Brad's White" Plumerias are gracing the yards and gardens of many happy DG gardeners!
Hi Brad!!! Thank you, thank you!!!!
Thanks Clare! for the info about frost protection. I am relatively new to gardening. Only started a couple years ago and have been adding garden beds every year since. I have not had to do any frost protection yet on any plants, so I am not quite sure what kind of portable greenhouse or frost cloth you would suggest. Do you have more information or a website link you could share with me. I DON'T want to lose my beautiful Brad's White plumerias or the Teresa Wilder. I appreciate any info you could share with me! I plan to take all precautions to protect them! :-)
Thank you, Brad - much appreciated!!!
Clare - I can see why you like Teresa Wilders so much - those colors are absolutely yummy!
You are all, truly WELCOME. It is MY pleasure.
It's comforting to know that they have loving homes.
Be well
: )
They certainly do look stunning together!
Brad, it is your generosity that has made you Johnny Appleseed! I am just a happy recipient of your kindness;-)
Teresa, you are such a bright light on this forum. I am sorry that you are excluded. I will find some way to make it up to you.
Becky, your info here below your names says you are in Zone 9b, but you are actually in Zone 10 so you don't have to worry about frost: http://www.backyardgardener.com/zone/index.html
One more package left;-)
Oh goodness, Clare! Don't be the least bit sorry. I completely understand!
Goodness, my plumies have a pedigree! I'm so looking forward to tomorrow's mail. Thank you both Clare and Brad.
They're here!!!! They look fantastic and i'm going to go pottem up.. boy Clare, thank you so much, they are well rooted and they look good, I dont' know what to call their arms, but some have arms.. Sent you a D-mail.. Thanks for the other plants too.
THANK you ..
A.
My pleasure, Antoinette and Kathleen!
Yes, those center cuts started to push out branches as they rooted. They should grow nice and big, and very soon, you won't see that center cut any longer.

Yes - those center cuts are healthy, aren't they!!! Put my pot on top of my grill...figured that metal might heat up a little and help them along.
Am I the last one to check in? Our regular mailman must be on vacation and the schedule is totally different, but they arrived a while ago! Yipee! Had my pots all set to go, mixed up the soil, gave them a drink of ST, and they're ready to greet the sun in the morning. Put them on the hot side of the house, so they should be happy. Whee, I'm a plumie grower! lol
LOL, that's great, Kathleen. Five more tall ones are on the way to you tomorrow;-)
Hi Clare,
Mine arrived safe and sound yesterday (Monday) and they look great! So-o-o healthy and happy! I'll work hard to keep them that way. Thanks so much for your hard work for everyone!
Best,
Barbara
Hi Barbara, I'm so glad. I think some of your leaves got snipped a bit to get them to fit in the box, but they will grow back very quickly. It is my pleasure;-)
Chantell~
Just re-read your post. Just remember to remove them when you light the fire.
: )
LOL - I thought about that after I'd written it...I have my blonde moments but I promise, never when it comes to my plants. :) Except that time with the Teddy Bear Cholla...OMG...very sad....
C'mon, now. Don't hold back. Tell us ALL, about the Teddy Bear.
Be well
: )

uuummmm....IT decided to ummmm, "hug" my finger...yeah, that's it...as my grandma says "That's my story and I'm stickin' to it"
I believe -- I believe
:)
Package arrived, thanks again Clare.
Question about watering. Without big root systems, do we still water daily? I know with some other plants, I can't do that or they will rot. But it's soooooo hot right now. Yesterday morning when I checked they were still moist, then this morning they were wilting. Don't want to overwhelm the little guys!
You are so welcome, Kathleen. I water every day. The roots will dry up and fry in this heat if they don't stay hydrated. You don't have to worry about rot with plumerias during the summer. Only with the wet/cold combination in winter do you have to worry sometimes. If your plumies are wilting, try misting them while watering. Also, give them some Superthrive or Vitamin B-1 mixed in with the water for a few weeks or at least at the initial watering after transplanting.
Thanks, Clare. I've got the picture now. The wilty ones perked right up after I watered. The heat has gone up almost 10 degrees this past week - we're melting!
Yikes, we're having a heat wave too, but at least the plumies like it!
You've got a really nice collection! ;-)
Thank you Teresa,
It seems to be growing..lol.

Lookin' good, Antoinette! Thanks for posting this!
Gosh, I can't contain myself. I've got some of Clare and flyboyFL's plants. I caught the very beginning of this thread before I went on vacation and she held off sending me my plants until I got back. I am in shock at what I received. I couldn't believe Clare remembered me when I wasn't around to post in this thread.
Healthy healthy healthy!
Robust robust robust!
I want so badly to take a photo of the plants I received since they're all potted up and lookin purty but I can't because of camera and computer problems which really suck right about now when I want to show off my new babies. These plants are knock down drag out gorgeous and I am so happy to have them.
Thank you ever so much for packing them ever so carefully and sending them to me! They arrived in perfect condition!
Gosh, not much more I can say other than absolutely spectacular plants!
LOL, Lauren! You are very welcome, and I am so glad you are pleased. I remember promising you a rooted Brad's White cutting way back in May or June, but I am so bad at shipping things that I didn't around to it until here in August and September, but I did remember that you were going on vacation and wanted to wait until you got back. I am so glad that you are pleased, and I hope you get lots of flowers from them in the years to come.
