Got a few of those munching on my Passifloras, any idea which ones they are?
CLOSED: Cats on my Passiflora
looks to be a salt marsh caterpillar
It kind of looks like a Fall webworm too, I couldn't find a very good photo of it, but here's one:
http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://wihort.uwex.edu/Phenology/images/Fall%2520Webworm.jpg&imgrefurl=http://wihort.uwex.edu/Phenology/FallWebworm.html&h=225&w=292&sz=25&hl=en&start=25&tbnid=QMC1l1o8RXDrGM:&tbnh=89&tbnw=115&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dfall%2Bwebworm%26start%3D20%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D20%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26rls%3DDNUS,DNUS:2006-36,DNUS:en%26sa%3DN
It has those black dots on it's back.
Hmmm I doubt it's a fall webworm due to the missing "web structure".
The fall webworms are gregarious until the last instar, then they leave the web and feed individually.
those cats already been there in an early instar.
Maybe he's not then, I can't find anything else similar. You could raise a couple and see what they become :)
Just think of the valuable contribution to Bug Files it would be.....is this working? lol
Here's your cat, Silly_Sane was right....it is a Salt Marsh Moth cat:
