I believe this is a picture of the flowers of Cleistocactus (Borzicactus) fieldianus. Flowers of Corryocactus species are quite different (not tubular & not hairy). See these photos for typical Corryocactus flowers:

But Kell and Tristan, don't trust Cactusjordi too much. He is not an expert for this group of plants. He just got them by that name and never checked if it is correct. :-)

Well, we all know I am no expert either! Less than you by much, Jordi. LOL

I think this was name tagged at UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley I sure did not ID it myself.

I will ask Phil if he has a clue.

Aha! I think this explains it!

At the UCB Botanical Garden, their Cleistocactus fieldianus and Corryocactus pulquiensis are right next to each other and actually overlap!

Here are pics I took this past January:
Photo 1 is the nice clear patch of Cleistocactus fieldianus with sign.
Photo 2 is the sign for Corryocactus pulquiensis with both Corryocactus (the thinner, sparesly spined plant with fewer areoles) and Cleistocactus.
Photo 3 is a pic of the patch with BOTH signs and BOTH plants showing their proximity! The Corryocactus are easily distinguishable in this photo (they are the taller, skinnier plants).

Well, I thought I'd figured it out...but, now I see you ID'd your plant in the original photo as "Corryocactus apiciflorus" which is completely different from Corryocactus pulquinensis. The one in my photos is clearly the latter. I don't recall seeing any C. apiciflorus at the UCB gardens. I wonder if the changed the signs/reidentified the plant in question since you originally took your pictures and the new sign/ID is C. pulquinensis.
Regardless, I think it is clear that the plant in your original photo is actually Cleistocactus fieldianus.

Yes, it looks like Cleistocactus fieldianus.
