CLOSED: What is on my pumpkin plants?

Sumner, IA(Zone 4b)

I found these little creatures all over my pumpkin plants and zucchini. It looks like they are destroying the plants. Any clues?

They look like what I call squash bugs. Anasa nistis. They will destroy your plants and will also eat on the pumpkins and squash, ruining the looks of the skin.

Yep, Bad Guy Bugs. Search and destroy.

I've got them this year too, in the squash and cucumbers. Had to pull out the cucumbers, there was too much damage to salvage... =(

It's very satisfying to cut the leaves from the plant with the bugs on it, ( or shake them off the leaves into the bucket) and place in a bucket. Add water, and use a stick to keep poking the leaves and bugs underwater....... Leave the cold bug tea for a few hours to make sure any eggs are drowned, then pour out over the compost.... For hot bug tea, pour boiling water over the contents of the bucket.... very effective

That, or pluck the leaf and bugs and all and grind them underfoot........

spelling corrected!

At the risk of sounding non-organic, can't I just spray them with something. Bugs just give me the creepy crawleys! :)

Sevin is an insecticide that is low impact. That would be my choice.
