Can anybody tell me what this is? I'm thinking maybe tradescantia, but the markings are like a lily or an orchid.

Looks like a 'tricyrtis' or Toad lily to me.

Yup, it's a toad lily. Very beautiful late flowering specimen. Mine bloom into October here.
