Yesterday my friend Pat and I went to the Butterfly Place in Westford, Massachusetts for a delightful time for viewing and photographing butterflies. I just wanted to share some of the fun!

I clicked on your thread in recent posts because of your name, as maniac was our family's nick name in high school as a variation of the spelling of our last name. But what a beautiful thread I stumbled upon. Great pics. I've never been to a butterfly place, we drive to NH, VT, or ME for a long weekend every fall. This looks like a great spot to go.
I am glad you enjoyed it. My alias (nickname) is obviously a reference to the the fact that I live in Maine!

What a wonderful way to spend the day. We have a little butterfly place here but not with such fancy butterflies as that.
Olbrich Gardens has a beautiful butterfly exhibit every summer that I take my DD to. It's pretty much a great way to spend the afternoon. They have them loose in the Boltz Conservatory and sometimes they land right on you. They place these huge fans on you as you leave , in case of a hitch hiker.
Dow Gardens In Midland have a great one every year I love to go there. And then go walk through the gardens .

Great shots, thanks for sharing. I need to get out and take a few butterfly shots myself. They love my tall phlox and it makes a good background for them to land on.
Anyone that can enjoy the fragile beauty of a butterfly is a gentle soul indeed.
