Sure wish I could help...

On a side note are you coming to the Fall Roundup this year? The threads are over in the Texas Forum.

Hey Mitch! I haven't had much time to chat this summer so thanks for giving me heads-up! I guess you came back in this time period too. :)

I sure did.. I was lost and came back to Daves after about 3 weeks out... could not take it.

What species tree is it? Is it definitely insect-caused, or could there be some other cause? I don't see any 'frass' (insect droppings), and the hole is well enough sealed up by sap/latex/resin to kill any insects that might have been there.

Is that the one where you balance a bucket of weedkiller on top of a slightly-open door, and see whose head it drops on?

:o)

Ummm no roundups on Daves Garden are gatherings of people to swap and trade plants.

lol....Resin, here is another thread I started a few months ago. Those holes sealed up, we started giving the tree iron and half of the tree looks great. The other half, not so much.

A few years ago our other tree had this same oozing problem and I dr'd it with Tree Trunk Goop and it never had another problem and is much larger than it's sibling. ??

A while ago I went out and found a "blob" of what I thought was more ooze but what I actually found was that it was a blob of those larvae! I guess they really don't like the orange oil. I think I'm actually forcing them out.

But, my original question is are they going to the oozing or making it ooze?

Glad you made it back Mitch!

Thanks, I am loving living here again... my time at GW left me with mixed feelings.
