I just read thru this thread & it sounds like fun. Wish I had time to join in. Too late this time but I'll be watching in the future. I'm a newbie so I didn't realize you did this kind of trading. I'll get busy saving seeds for the next time. Hope there will be another one soon. Let me know if one is planned.

I got my seeds today, I have to figure out where I'm going to put them all. I'm really excited I've never had these plants before. Thanks Susan

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

Susan,
Thats the fun part about secret seed or even plant trading. You don't get a choice so you live with what you get... 9 times out of ten I end up loving what I got and wonder why I didn't discover it on my own.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Fran
That is so true. I received some red penstemon seeds and had never heard of them. I looked them up and found that they are just beautiful and would go well in my perennial bed and now I cant wait to see them come up. I also got a gorgeous type of Morning Glory seed that will compliment a bare fence area I have. I had never done a trade like this before and I'm really pleased with my selection and couldnt have done better if I had choosen for myself. Its funny how it worked out just right. Thanks:-))))

Avon, IN(Zone 5a)

I got my seeds yesterday also! Thanks Fran for organizing this, I can't wait to see them come up

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

got my seeds yesterday and am very excited. can't wait to plant them
thanks everone

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

Jadajoy,
Those penstemon came from me, and I too was new to them 3 years ago. They are so odd... they have a nice dense ground mound... then when you least expect it, you will see these little spots of color in the air... The stem they flower on is very fine and when they bloom the stem is almost invisable... leaving the air of flowers blooming from nowhere. And the color of them just glows.
I only have them because they came in a garden pre-plan.. I never would have purchased them on my own, thinking they might be weedy looking... now you couldn't get me to design a garden without them!

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Fran,
How wonderful you make them sound...now I really cant wait for them to take off. The pictures of them are a knockout and I like that they are airy and glowy!
Thanks for turning me on to this beauty. Since they are perennial can I plant them now for spring?
Joyce

Rankin, IL(Zone 5a)

Joyce, I wouldn't see why not... they are self sowing, I haven't had a problem with them taking over, but they have really thickened up. So I would say yes... and if they don't make it in the spring, yell at me and I will send you more.
Fran

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Thanks Fran!

Rockton, PA

Thanks for the fun Fran.
I got my seeds Saterday and have been so busy canning and gardening and trades I have had much time to catch up with my emails. I have to look some of these seeds up. the penstemon you were talking about sounds nice I have three kinds of pestemon. My favorite is the Violet Dusk or Small's penstemon as it is a rebloomer when deadheaded. In fact I have some blooming right now. I have prarie Dusk and Huskers red but have not been able to get them to rebloom.
