Hoping it's a peaceful spider since it lives in your garden...but still relieved that it does not live here. I am not a fan of spiders...even though they are quite beneficial. I wouldn't harm one that isn't poison. They just give me the creeps though.

Scroll down towards the bottom of the page to the Family Oxyopidae. Your spider looks like the one pictured, genus Oxyopes. It's a good start at least.

I agree that this appears to be an Oxyopid. Lynx spiders actually do live in Kentucky and across North America. Sorry for the bad news. ;).

Also, those claws are actually the enlarged pedipalps of the male. This allows for sex determination as it is the males who have enlarged palps. They use them to transfer sperm to the females.
