Yeah, mine's a year old too...looks like wrighties!! I'll be doing some serious "haircutting" if it's gets too crazy...only have so much space and it'll need to play nice with the others!

I just got this cutting from my friend and it is GORGEOUS! It has a wonderful strong pleasant fragrance too. It is a Peacock Orchid; Gladiolus callianthus. I found out it used to be called Acidanthera bicolor.
It was growing in a patch in the corner of her vegetable garden ~ blooming now, late season. It makes wonderful cut flowers :) I'm going to try it next yr for sure. It originated in East Africa and it would have to dug up and over wintered, I guess similar to dahlia tubers, only they are corms.
I have had those- I love that scent, like the moonflower vine. I think the bulbs are pretty cheap, too, but less often seen for sale.
wind, what a stunning photo! I almost picked up a bag of those when I grabbed my Caladiums at Lowes this summer - kicking myself now that I didn't.
