I've tried before to get these to germinate, without any success. I was lucky enough to get some more to play with and would really appreciate any tips.
I sowed the previous seeds on the surface of some peat seed starter compost . Kept it moist, enough light (no direct sunlight) not too warm as I read high temperatures inhibit germination, but not even one germinated...
Thanks in advance,
Elsa
Impatiens "Blue Diamond" germination help needed
Hi,Elsa,
Last year I sowed this seed in the glass case outside in February.
And, good germination could be obtained. This year I sowed them at the same time again, but none to germinate. Fortunately, I got some selfseedlings and I could glow them. Because of my poor experience, I can't exactly tell the right sowing time ,but I think that this Impatience needs some cold period for germination the same as other Impatience species ,
Late autume sowing or winter sowing might be better for this seed.
Good Luck !!
Tomtom
Thanks Tomtom, I'll sow them right away as it is still cold. Will only start to really heat up in September. Holding thumbs!
