Kassia, how wonderful it is to see all these plants looking so happy in your yard! What a beautiful bunch you've got!

I had a dream last night that I was coming to visit you with Arlene and Jack in the car and we got lost and arrived soooo late!

Harper

Maine, United States(Zone 5b)

Everything looks great!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

well, Harper is not late to come... lol... please come again...

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

How lucky you have been to have received so much beauty, and to make it grow and prosper (OMG - I sound like Mr. Spock!).

Your gardens are a delight to the soul.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

thanks candyce... I hope all will bloom next year too!!! I am already thinking of protecting them!!!!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I know what you mean. It's only the beginning of August, but I, too, amd thinking of winter protection and doing my first bit of winter-sowing.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

really???? winter sowing??? did you do that last year??? was it worth it???? I won't be able to start my plants indoors this year... my entire family will kick me out of the house if I do it... since I have so many raised beds my plan is to do cold frames... and maybe winter sowing could work!!!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I have some hibiscus seeds... the person that gave me said to plant in the fall... so that's the only one I have....

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Kassia - I have never winter sowed, so this will be my first year trying to do that. I'm not sure if I have all the particulars down just right, but I've been over on the WS forum a lot lately - reading, not talking.

I honestly don't even know which plants to start with!!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Anita and Dave(47) are wintersowers and I tried it this year. So did Michaela (Seandor). I put a ton of new perennials in my new cottage garden that I couldn't have afforded, mostly from seed either donated by or traded with DG friends. I had some things that didn't germinate, but I planted about 200 perennials plus some annuals and veggies that were practically free (only real expense was seed starting mix and some postage). You guys should try it...fun gardening thing to do after the holidays to keep the winter blahs away.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

So .....

is there like a list - just among us - of people willing to trade or give away?

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Candyce, You should post a trade thread here in this forum if you want to trade or get give-aways.
I for one, and I am sure there are others here in the NE Dave's Garden, that have job; family obligations (and lack of good camera, lol) that keep us from posting on a regular basis like a lot of the other folks here.
I do a lot of one-on-one or group trades and I would gladly swap or give away my extras to someone wanting to start a garden, expand, or just experiment with wintersowing for example. Just say the word.
Cyndie - by the way, I used to live in Peterborough, NH ;)

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

great idea... I want to get some seeds this year but some packs comes too many... and I will be happy to share with you guys!!!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I have seen the Trade List, and even have two items on it. But it seems rather impersonal to me. Well, by that I mean that the members of the NEG forum I would be more likely to trust over someone from the other side of the country. I don't mean to be picky, but I guess that I am - LOL

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

BTW, Kassia, I LOVE that datura picture at the top of this thread. Nice!!!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Candyce I aggree...

Harper, I love daturas... if you want seeds for next year I will make sure I send you some.... all my daturas came from seeds... and they do the work of re-seeding... totally wonderful in my opinion!!!

right now I have white, a bigger white one and a double yellow that already have pods... so I will be saving seeds... I am still waiting for the double purple to bloom... the wild one is much smaller but is charming... really a purple center....

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yeah, I'd love seeds! That'd be great!

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

ok...good we have a project for the fall... I will send you some for the fall... please remind me... I am a banana head sometimes!!!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Okay, I'll remind you, you banana head!

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

I will be saving seeds and downsizing my inventory for give-away (probably will only last until the new catalogs come out, LOL)
I would be happy to post a list here in our forum first as soon as it is ready.
It is all about sharing anyway, and since we all live in basically the same climate it makes sense to trade here. I have made a lot of new friends trading and giving seeds away. It's a small thing that brings a lot of pleasure to everyone involved. Cyndie.

Brick, NJ(Zone 7a)

kassia, how pretty!!!! so Dr. Seuss or nightmare before x-mas looking.

i'll have to get some of those. stephanie

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

here are the open daturas... I love those poisonous plants... hard to believe they are poisonous... so delicate!!!!

Thumbnail by Kassia
Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

stephanie, I will be happy to give you... I have probably at least 20 pods maturing.. more than 20 white plants and 5 wild daturas... and 3 yellows so far.... I will be happy to give you some!!!
