I have decided that I really liked my Lilies this year and have been "dabbing" them like I do my daylilies.
I have 1 Oriental lily, 1 Trumpet lily and 1 Asiatic lily and know NOTHING about them.
I decided not to keep any of Asiatic lily seeds but would like to try some Oriental lily seeds and Trumpet lily seeds if I can.
I was thinking of winter sowing them directly in the ground and have read alot of great information here but didn't really see much about winter sowing them. I don't have the space to grow them inside or the lighting etc.
If I just sow them directly this fall is there any chance they will grow from seed?
I plan to dig up (once I harvest the seeds) and move some of them as I can see that I have them planted in the wrong places.
I couldn't believe how tall my Asiatic lilies got this year over 5 feet! They have never been so tall.
I rescued 3 Asiatic lilies that were in pots thrown on the side of the road (they had been attacked by the red lily beetle) and am really looking forward to seeing what color they turn out to be.
Also, can you cross Oriental lilies with Trumpet lilies or do you need to stay in the same species?
Yep, really a newbie....*lol*
Thank you for any assistance.

Lily Newbie....LOTS of questions
There are Orienpet / OT lilies which are across between Orientals & Trumpets.
Thank you Nanny. I did some research online and it seems that Lilies cannot be "selfed" so my seeds will all be no good until I buy some different lilies to "cross" with.
Thank you though :)
Kim
