CLOSED: Butterfly - Skipper or What?

Hurst, TX

Newbie to butterflies. We found many of these along a small road in north Texas near Roanoke. I am at a loss to ID. Any help appreciated.

Very nice photo!

I'm thinking it's a Hackberry Emperor ...

Thank you, Linda.

From the other photos at the links you included I certainly agree. I guess I can mark this one "Solved."

Thanks again.

. . . and by the way that would make it a Brushfoot rather than a Skipper, I guess.

I have an image of one of these waiting to be uploaded for ID - haha. Now I don't have to. They are so pretty and kind of "friendly" - there was one the other day on my fig tree who hung out over an hour while I was laying there reading a book. I thought he was dead for a second there - then I brought my hand close and he decided he'd had enough of my company.
