Suggestions for fragrance this late in season for containers

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

LOL - they cut a wedge out of the bone, straightened it out, shaved the bunion, then screwed the bones back together. No marathons for me this Fall. Good Times.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

No marathons for me period! Hope you recoup in time for spring. Laid up is good for one thing ~ DGing...

So are arms and feet "fragrance this late in season"? LOL

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

OMG...ladders...period...bottom rung...top rung...tain't doin' it!!! I'd rather spray paint the house!! Heights and I are most certainly NOT friends. The Bay Bridge requires one traveling companion...Xanax!!
Wrightie...tisk, tisk...why aren't your toes painted? I mean, I realize they need to check circulation during surgery and all but that's been at least a few hours...come on girl, hop to it. Hugs!!

Well, I was wondering when someone was going to point out that OOPSIE. Well done, Chantell. Now, have you found my love note to you yet, or are you just askeered of me?

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Ahhh you sent me a wuv note...hmmm....ISO now....

Night Blooming Jasmine is a great late blooming plant here...not sure when it would bloom in Texas. Might be hardy there but not here.

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Funny you should mention that, Zville. I am growing jessamin in containers here and mine has really taken off in the past couple of weeks. Last night, I brought one of them in off of the deck for a few hourse to enjoy in the living room while I was relaxing on the couch. Oo la la. I just love it.

My husband loves the NBJ...he moves the pot onto our back screened porch at night so he can enjoy the fragrance. I cut a few sprigs to bring into the house one night and the fragrance was a bit strong if sitting too close. I'm going to bring it indoors for the winter and hope it makes it. We don't have much bright sunlight inside and it's on the dry side, so we'll see if it survives.

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

I'm in the exact same boat, but I suppose I can cut it back and stick it under grow lights for the winter, if necessary. I just love it and wish it was hardy up here.

My night blooming jasmine is blooming right now. This is my first time smelling one. I purchased it from Flowerscents Gardens before it closed. Woooonderful!!!

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

You booger!!! Hmph!!! NO blooms on mine...yet...gonna have to dig em' up soon, too. GRRRR!!

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Mine are from FSG as well and they're blooming heavily now. Chantell, what sort of situation are they planted in? I kept mine in pots in mostly sunny positions.

Mine's in a 5 gal bucket. LOL

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

... and I've pretty much ignored mine all summer, so they went dry a few times. I don't even think that I fertilized them at all (aren't I mean?).

wrightie
I haven't fertilized mine either, although I will now that it's blooming. Isn't it a good idea to fertilize when things are blooming? I think I've heard it produces more blooms?

Now back to the original question of this thread ...
Does anyone have some fall suggestions with a heavenly scent for container growing in zone 8B that you've had good success with?

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Brugmansia Cypress Gardens - my first ever brug, which began blooming a couple days ago. Wow, what a divine scent. Mind you, the fragrance doesn't fill the air, but when I shove my nose all up in there, it is GLORIOUS.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Wrightie ~ I've noticed the Brugs fragrance is more powerful at night. Beware when you run your nose up in there... The hummingbird moths love them too... lol

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Yes, I've been seen out on the deck late at night, with my nose planted inside the blooms ... can't smell a ting during the day. I'll let you know if I catch any moths.

Do they chew on the leaves? Something sure likes mine. :-(

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Well, for some reason I haven't had much trouble with the buggies.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

The hummingbird moth starts life as a tomato worm. If I am not mistaken, they will dine on Brug leaves as well as tomato plants yes.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Mine always get chewed apart by snails...check for nearby slime trails!
