Larch Casebearer,Coleophora laricella treatment help

Holland, OH(Zone 5b)

After some difficulty, I have identified what's eating my Larix pendula - the larch casebearer. I'm just thrilled as it is recovering this year from a hit by last year's gypsy moth infestation! I've found solid info on the life cycle but no mention of any treatment possibilities aka chemical insecticide. It overwinters on the host so I imagine I could always resort to a dormant oil? This is one specimine larch easily managed by a tank sprayer.

Not familiar with that one. If it overwinters on the surface of the tree then a dormant would work otherwise not really. Systemics normally don't get good uptake on evergreens to use - you could check the label(Merit).

It does over winter as a larvae/egg at the base of next year's buds, so........then it's the dormant oil. I'm not big on spraying chemicals willy nilly without begin certain that it's going to be effective. There is enough trouble with bees disappearing already.
