CLOSED: Orb Spider in South Carolina

Springfield, OH(Zone 5b)

We stopped for lunch next to a lake in South Carolina and discovered this spider in it's web. It was rather large, I would say 4 inches across.

Thank you.. That was fast!

This spider is why, when walking through the woods to streams in the Ozarks, you want to keep moving your fishing pole up and down in front of you.

Their webs are huge, stretching between trees - and that fishing pole is what keeps the webs off your face. lol

Oh yeah.. Now I am not particularly squeamish when it comes to spiders but I definately wouldnt' want this one crawling on me
