Wilting laurel - Can it be helped?

McLean, VA(Zone 6b)

I can't remember what type of laurel this shrub is, but it is very common in my area. I just noticed yesterday that it is beginning to wilt in part. All of the wilted areas face away from my property, and toward my neighbor's fence, which is why I probably had not noticed it earlier. Although it has been very dry this summer, it isn't from lack of water. I watered all of my shrubs yesterday. I have several more of the same plants further away that are quite healthy.

This is an overall picture of the affected plants. Right now, two of the four in this grouping are affected.

As I was taking pictures, I noticed that my neighbor's tree, some type of weeping variety, is affected as well. His wilted sections are right over my shrubs. I'm wondering if the tree could be causing my problems or vice verse.

Although I don't know what it is, I have a feeling that it might be fungal.

Final shot, a close view of the affected leaves. In other sections, the leaves are turning brown.

Is there anything that I can do to save these plants, and the surround plants that are not affected?

These are skip laurels.

Check out Laurel Wilt. A very virulent disease recently introduced in the US. You'd need to check if it is in your area yet (but it is spreading fairly fast).

Laurel Wilt is only reported in FL, GA, SC so far. But worth sending samples to your nearest USDA plant health office for testing.

Resin,

Thanks so much for the attached link. I'm not sure if this is what is causing my problem, but I appreciate it.

Maybe verticillium wilt. Maybe pesticide overspray.

I hope that it itsn't V wilt. From the research that I've read, there isn't a solution for that. The fact that it is only on the side facing my neighbor means that they could have sprayed something. My side looks fine still.
