LadyCleo just wonderful. Do you recall which cultivar the blue grass is? Is that fennel or dill weed in back there? I think it is just terrific and the butterflies obviously do too.
Anyone have a planned butterfly garden or wild area?
ngam,
The grass is Elijah Blue Fescue. It is really showing off this year! It has produced some babies too that my co-workers are begging for.
You've got a good eye! It's Sweet Fennel you see in the background.
I'm glad you like it. A thing of beauty is a joy forever. I'm looking to retire in a few years and am pleased to leave this garden (and others) behind as a legacy of my soon to be 30 years there.
It certainly is a great gift to leave.
Very nice, Ladycleo, thanks for sharing. You gave me a wonderful idea for a garden plan. I'm going to do the color scheme in roy g biv order for a garden, that will be next spring or fall project since I have this fall project lined up already.
Anybody have a clue as to what this wildflower is? Narrow stem, smooth, opposite, lance shaped leaves, flowers in bunch at the top, pink, 5 petals and looks like it has always been growing there. This is just a snip I picked off of it today to identify. It looks pink-like to me or possibly some sort of wild phlox, but I think the calyxes are more pink-like. Can't find anything exactly like it in my guidebooks. It is naturally occuring in my butterfly garden at the reservation.
Appreciate any thoughts on the ID or a source by color that might help identify.
Thanks,
Martha
