Beautiful... In my beginning of mg growing I received some of these seeds as an extra in a trade, and being the person that thought I couldn't, and shouldn't, grow them, I gave them away... I regret that now... that is such a gorgeous flower....

Brittany, when I first began gardening, it was a few years before I would grow anything "for pretty". But the neighborhood vandalism was so bad that it began to seem like a good idea to stop trying to grow "useful" vegies and start growing "useless" flowers. Heavenly Blue made sheets of blue all along a 50' chain link fence, and one of my nemenises (spelling?) put down his BB gun long enough to say it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.

I regret not starting with morning glories from the beginning - they sure can break ice.

Wow, sounds like a rough neighborhood!

I guess every group occupies a place on the saint-sinner spectrum - just in different ways, like the individuals which comprise them. So yup it was rough, but gentrification hasn't taken it off that spectrum. There were a lot of good souls that created the neighborhood improvement association to turn things around. Whatever social issues we may have had became moot when water and sewer came in the early '80s, because that ultimately forced most folks in lower economic brackets out. Their families had been there for many generations as mill workers since the mill was built around 1808. Now it's the middle class losing ground, with their jobs going overseas.

Oh, I grew those last year. My very favorite Morning Glory ever. In fact, that's what I affectionately call my Pomeranian. (His name is Hannibal, but I usually call him Hanahubuki, or Buki for short.)

Lovely fower!
