eucalyptus tree, companion planting??

San Diego-ScrippsR, CA(Zone 10a)

I have an embankment of eucalyptus trees behind my house which is fairly close. I want to do some underplanting under the limbs--I really need some ideas. I can't find any answers to this question. The companion plants don't have to be on a slope.

I can't help you myself, but I have an idea: post your question on the Australian gardeners' forum!

Eucalyptus produces a chemical that prevents understory growth of other plants. That is why you seldom see anything growing under them. You will have to find plants that will thrive under them. These sites will give you an idea of some you could try.
