That is a beautiful agastache. I purchased it a couple of years ago. Actually it was my first ever agastache & I was so pleased with it. Just kicked myself later that I didn't save any of it.

Broots,

I don't know if any of it goes to seed and/or if any seeds makes new plants or not regarding Red Fortune. I lost the ones I had last year. I can try to get some seeds from these plants as long as I don't end up losing my plants over the Winter for you.

Thanks for the offer Marilyn. Red Fortune is a hybrid & will not come true from seed. Last year I wanted to save seed from Firebird & couldn't figure out why I wasn't finding any seed, then I read on Gardenweb that ants will harvest the seed as soon as they are ready to fall out of the calyxes. I really should have tried cuttings. Hope you enjoy your Red Fortune & it makes it through the winter.

Strange! Do you know why that is? Does Firebird seed come true if it is able to get 'seeded' into the ground (without ants and/or birds getting to the seed first)?

Marilyn, don't know why the ants go for the agastache seed but I sure had lots of them. Ants that is. I just searched today & no, Firebird won't come true from seed as it is a hybrid too. At least that is what it says on the Univ. of Georgia website. You would have to take cuttings or root divisions. If you were lucky enough to get seed it sure wouldn't hurt to plant them & see what colour you get. If it was me, I would plant the seed.

Here is an interesting link on agastaches.

This is a photo of my A. Firebird last year. I looked for it everywhere this year. No luck.
