Every fall these little houses show up around my property here in Northern California. They range in size from the head of a pin to the size of a quarter. Some are tall, 3" and some are flush against the ground. They mostly use Fir needles and Madrone bark and most have web coating the rim and insides. At the base of one particular Live Oak tree there are no less than 50 in a space of about 2'x2'. These photos here are all the size of a quarter. There isn't any kind of excavated soil around any of them either.
We’ve been here for over 20 years and have never caught so much as a glimpse of ‘it’.
Thanks in advance!
