I have a plant that grew from seed this year.. It's now about 6' tall and popped two blooms..it was the first of this years seedlings to flower.. Mystery one... where did that tag go to... guessI should look through the bird nests in the area... the flower is a bit small.. but of good form.. there was one seedling without a name.. a unknown cross with my Ollie.. it might be this one as I cna't seem to find ollies seedling... but it's not like ollies flower.. usually bigger and hanging.. and more aromatic than this one.. although it does have a strong sweet smell..
mystery two: at first the flowers are not pointing down.. but are slightly upward pointing.....
mystery three... this picture if of the flowers after they have been fully open for a week still not hanging,, but just slightly below horizontal.. by a few degrees.
mystery four: as I said this picture was taken after the flower had been open for a week... during that time we've had at least two heavy toriental rain storms.. and the flowers have stood up to it without a problem.. my longest lasting most resilent brug flower ever.... Gordon
A few mysteries on a seedling without a tag..
Here's a closer look at the flower... yes there is slight bruseing of the flower... but like I'd said there had been at least two violent rain storms in that time here..heavy wind... and the pot and plant were blown over duriing the first storm.. the spotting was just recently displayed..
there is such a variety in the flowers... you never know what you're going to get... Forrest Gump this is the first of many new first year seedlings to flower here..

Long lasting flowers that can take that much wind and stay so pretty sure is something : ) From the shape of the flowers and the build of the stem there could be a great deal of B. aurea in the mix, besides from B. x candida (the short pubescence of the leaves and new growth). A plant / flower after my taste lol
I love the nodding of the bloom. Very hardy for that color to also stand up to the rain and storm. For that matter any color brugmansia.
She's such a pretty thing... and what a trooper!
What a great, tough bloom.... and pretty too.

Wow Gordon! You have a real winner there! The first thing I thought when I saw this bloom was...OH BOY, you've got some Aurea influence goin on there! I think the Aurea traits are the favorite of many brug lovers!
